TYPICAL FIVE HEARING STRUCTURE <br />Purpose of Hearing <br />t" Public Hearing <br />Public Hearing with information about the redistricting process, <br />descriptions of the data and mapping tools, introduction of ways <br />the community can provide input. <br />The purpose of this introductory hearing is to provide information <br />to the public and solicit input from the public and elected officials <br />on where community of interests exist, and how those can <br />contribute to the building of potential districts. <br />2"d Public Hearing <br />Repeat of first hearing, with additional emphasis on tools for <br />providing input, potentially an overview or training for online <br />mapping tools, emphasis on receiving community of interest <br />testimony for the purposes of driving map creation. <br />31 Public Hearing <br />Public Hearing with presentation of maps of new potential district <br />boundaries produced by the demographer and published seven days <br />in advance, with a summary of how mapping options were drawn <br />from testimony and public input received during the previous <br />hearings. These maps are expected to drive additional feedback <br />from the public and elected officials. <br />41b Public Hearing <br />Public Hearing with revised map(s) of proposed district boundaries <br />produced by the demographer and publishedseven days in advance. <br />Additional public input regarding the revised map(s) and <br />concluding with direction from the council on a final map that will <br />be placed on the calendar for an upcoming up/down vote on the <br />completed districting plan. <br />5's Public Hearing <br />Public Hearing to adopt final map, district numbering, and order of <br />election. <br />
