Public Works Agency <br />www.santa-ana.org/pw <br />Item # 13 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br />Staff Report <br />August 2, 2022 <br />TOPIC: Safe Mobility Santa Ana Planning and Engineering Services <br />AGENDA TITLE <br />Approve an Agreement with KTUA for Traffic Planning and Engineering Services for the <br />Safe Mobility Santa Ana Plan Update in the Amount of $180,000 for a up to a Five-year <br />Term (Non -General Fund) <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement with KTUA, for transportation/traffic <br />planning and engineering services for the Safe Mobility Santa Ana (SMSA) plan update, <br />for a three-year period beginning August 2, 2022, and ending on August 1, 2025, with the <br />option to extend for up to a two-year period, in a total aggregate amount not to exceed <br />$180,000, subject to non -substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City <br />Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On August 30, 2021, the Public Works Agency issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for <br />contractors to provide transportation/traffic planning and engineering services to update <br />the existing Safe Mobility Santa Ana (SMSA) plan (Exhibit 1). The goal of the SMSA <br />update is to reevaluate citywide traffic safety, identify new areas of concern, contributing <br />factors and patterns, recommend and prioritize improvements, and analyze traffic <br />collisions of pedestrians and bicyclists, to reduce the number of persons killed or injured <br />in collisions. <br />The RFP was advertised on the City's online bid management and publication system, <br />with bids due on September 20, 2021. Six proposals were received and evaluated by a <br />three -member panel of Public Works Agency Staff selection. The scores were based on <br />criteria as outlined in the RFP.
