REQUEST FOR <br />Historic Resouroes Commission Action <br />�aucat�on �Sr <br />F1STORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION MEETING DATE: <br />SEPTEMBER 7, 2000 <br />TITLE: <br />PUBLIC HEARING - HISTORIC REGISTER <br />NO. 00-01 TO AMEND THE SANTA ANA <br />REGISTER OF HISTORICAL PROPERTY <br />Prepared by Marta Crane <br />Executive Director <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION SECRETARY <br />APPROVE? <br />As Recommended <br />Cl As Amended <br />CI Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />Planning Manager <br />Adopt a resolution amending various discrepancies to the Santa Ana <br />Register of Historical Property. <br />DISCUSSION <br />At the August 3, 2000 meeting, staff presented to the Historic Resources <br />Commission an updated Geographic Information System (GIS) map depicting <br />the location of each historic property listed in the City's Register. <br />To prepare this map, staff conducted a comprehensive review of the <br />Register properties and through field analysis, verified the location of <br />each historic structure in the City. <br />In the course of this review, staff discovered a number of discrepancies <br />in the Register, which are due primarily to duplicate entries, incorrect <br />property names or addresses, and typographical errors. Exceptions to <br />these are updates that need to be made to reflect the demolition of <br />historic 'structures on the site of the new Federal Courthouse on Fourth <br />,Street and the St. Joseph's Ballet project site on North Main Street. <br />Staff is proposing a number of revisions to the existing Register to <br />create a Historic Register that accurately reflects the information <br />contained in the Geographic Information System map database and SAPIN <br />database. The update proposed by staff will eliminate duplicate entries <br />to the Register and correct the database as of June of 2000. The total <br />number of historical properties listed on the Register after the <br />adjustments is 216 (Exhibit 1). <br />Based on the analysis conducted, staff recommends that the Historic <br />Resources Commission adopt a resolution modifying the Santa Ana Register <br />of Historical Property. <br />Bit�c@iedi�edources Commission 18;-08 109Y8/2022 , <br />
