Deputy City Attorney, clarified that a maker and a seconder of a <br />motion could vote against a motion. However, the maker of the motion could not <br />speak against the motion and the seconding of a motion was to allow discussion on <br />the item. In addition, she informed the Commission that all absences were unexcused <br />unless the Commission took an action to excuse the absences; that no motions were <br />needed if the absences were not going to be excused. <br />6. Comments from the Historic Resources Commission. <br />Commissioner Chinn <br />• commented that it was a great meeting. <br />® informed the Commission that the State would be commencing a new stamp and <br />that there would be a celebration on Monday at noon. <br />Commissioner Cor in <br />• asked who would be deciding the wording for the plaques. Madam Chair Kings <br />indicated that the Committee would be bringing a proposal to the Commission. <br />Commissioner Gartner <br />• commented that he had reviewed the minutes and was distressed that he had <br />received an unexcused absence when he had informed the Commission <br />Secretary that he would be absent from the meeting ahead of time; he further <br />expressed that he believed being on the Commission was an honorable position, <br />however he was a business owner and conflicts did arise at times; and that he <br />would assume that the commission was trying to make a statement to the <br />fellow Commissioners regarding the importance of attendance. <br />Commissioner Brenes <br />• commented that he agreed with Commissioner Gartner and that setting a policy <br />would help define excused absences. <br />• commented that he had a great time in Costa Rico and was conducting business <br />with clients. <br />Bibtc&uRedources Commission 6 <br />18;—M <br />109Y8/2022 <br />
