Public Works Agency <br />hftps://www.santa-ana.org/public-works <br />Item # 15 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br />Staff Report <br />February 7, 2023 <br />TOPIC: Purchase of Six Chevrolet Colorado Trucks for Police and Public Works <br />AGENDA TITLE <br />Award Purchase Order to Penske Chevrolet of Cerritos in the Amount of $346,134 for <br />One 2023 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab Short Bed Truck, and Five 2023 Chevrolet <br />Colorado Crew Cab Long Bed Trucks (Specification No. 22-134) (General Fund and <br />Non -General Fund) <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Authorize a one-time purchase and payment of purchase order to Penske Chevrolet of <br />Cerritos for the purchase of one 2023 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab Short Bed Truck, <br />and five 2023 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab Long Bed Trucks, in the amount of <br />$336,134, plus a contingency of $10,000, for a total amount not to exceed $346,134, <br />subject to non -substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Public Works Agency's Fleet Services Division is responsible for the acquisition, <br />maintenance, repair, and replacement of vehicles, trucks, and maintenance equipment. <br />The Public Works Agency, Water Resources Division is in need of a new vehicle for day <br />to day operations, and the Police Department needs to replace existing aging fleet. <br />One vehicle is for the Public Works Agency Water Resources Division. The division <br />oversees and maintains the daily operations of the City's water and sanitary sewer <br />systems. In order to safely perform necessary system maintenance and repairs, the <br />Water Resources Division relies on specially trained Utility Inspectors to identify utility <br />infrastructure and coordinate with appropriate external agencies prior to City crews <br />performing work. Utility Inspectors also inspect the work of other utilities and contractors <br />performing work within the City to ensure City standards are met. The vehicle requested <br />by Water Resources will be utilized by the Utility Inspectors while performing these <br />important tasks. <br />Five vehicles are for the Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD). The SAPID has a fleet <br />of 245 vehicles, and eight of these vehicles are assigned to the Traffic Division, Parking <br />Control Unit of the Field Operations Bureau. The Police Department uses Chevy <br />Colorado trucks as the standard vehicle for parking control operations. All of the current <br />parking control vehicles are 2005 or 2008 models and are past the useful life of the <br />City Council 15 — 1 2/7/2023 <br />
