The Teahouse/Pavilion is located within the Plaza of the Suna centrally
located, high -use pedestrian plaza adjacent to City and County government buildings.
After 50 years of weathering and public use, the teahouse structure and the adjacent landscaped
garden were in serious need of refurbishment and re -design. Improvements include adding
accessible board form concrete ramps from the plaza level into the teahouse. Deteriorating wood
beams, columns, and roof framing were replaced. Overhead lighting was replaced with period -
appropriate, vandal proof fixtures. The low wood rail fencing was replaced around the perimeter
of the garden area. The garden landscape area was refurbished with cobble streambeds,
landscaping, and cherry trees that will blossom each spring.
Project Team
Principal:
Project Manager:
Larry P.
