We
work quickly to establish project goals, landscape
character, and determine programming of outdoor
spaces in collaboration with community partners and
city agencies.
S111 can prepare project concept narratives,
landscape design intent, project goals, diagrams,
supportive precedent imagery and strategies,
including but not limited to the following: crime
prevention through environmental design (CPTED),
innovative stormwater collection, nature based
solutions and low impact development (LID),
sustainable material selections, site appropriate
water wise landscaping, natural shading, high
efficiency irrigation techniques, and considerations
for long term maintenance and longevity of design
elements and their materiality. As part of the process
we also evaluate any current and future local or
national trends regarding public space as a source
for recreation, wellness, and community building.
We also look at established versus emerging
technologies (e.g. smart infrastructure) and make
recommendations regarding space programming
and activation, placekeeping, branding, wayfinding/
signage and connectivity.
Task I - Sample Deliverables
• Kick-off meeting and meeting(s) at deliverable
milestones
• Summary of project goals, objectives, and design
Criteria
• Precedent Imagery
• Conceptual design diagrams, notes and selective
imagery
• 3D visualizations/simulations (SketchUp with
Lumion, Enscape or Photoshop rendering techniques)
• Illustrative conceptual overall plans and selected
enlargements
• Illustrative sections or axonometric view drawings
• Proposed planting, hardscape, and site furnishings
palettes
• Draft and Final Design concept packages- City Staff,
Planning Commission or City Council presentations
Task II - Feasibility Studies & Needs Assessment
(1-2 months)
Studio One Eleven will review the City's existing parks
and open space plans and relevant public policies
to establish the applicable codes and processes
relevant to the specific project site and the goals and
priorities that will inform the project. We will utilize
this information to aid in evaluating opportunities and
constraints.
The Project Team will then visit specific sites
to evaluate and document considering items
such as: use/capacity, arrangements, condition,
vehicular and pedestrian accessibility, tree canopy,
site furnishing/amenities, lighting, parking, above
ground infrastructure, proximity project site to public
transportation. Develop a Strengths, Weakness,
Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) analysis to
gain an understanding of condition, functionality,
convenience and to inform improvements or
measures that should be encouraged to support the
Plan based on the existing conditions. Engage CASp
consultant to evaluate the accessibility of a particular
park or community building, as occurs.
Task It - Sample Deliverables
• Research memorandum with matrix of applicable
codes and any planned projects or adjacencies
• Existing Conditions Assessment & Feasibility Report
• Site diagrams and existing context photos with notes
-Existing and Proposed sections and/or plan diagrams
• SWOT analysis of existing inventory
• Opportunities diagram with design strategies
• CASp report, if applicable
• Monthly check in meetings with City and status
report
• Opinion of ROM costs and analysis (e.g. cost of
tactical improvements vs. complete transformation)
Task III - Outreach and Community Engagement (6
months)
Prior to establishing an Outreach and Community
Engagement strategy tailored to the project our Team
will meet with the City to review prior outreach efforts
and review what information has been gathered that
will inform a specific project. Based on the known
information the Team will develop an engagement
plan for City review and comment. During this process
S111 will work with the City to identify key community
members and neighborhood / focus groups that will
be empowered to take an active role in the outreach
and engagement process as partners with our team.
14
