federal government will pay Interest on this loan while the <br />student is enrolled in college at least half-time. <br />FecheraLDirect Unsubsidrred Loan <br />This program is a low interest rate, long-term loan program for <br />undergraduate students. This loan is not based on financial need. <br />The student is responsible for the interest during all periods. <br />FederaLParent Loan far Undlergradiate Students (PLUS) <br />Through the Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) <br />program, parents of undergraduate students may borrow up to <br />the annual cost of attendance minus any financial aid. The Federal <br />PLUS loan program is designed to assist parents of dependent <br />undergraduate students who are unable to meet their expected <br />parental contribution or have additional financial need that is not <br />met with other financial aid resources. This loan is limited to <br />parents who don't have an adverse credit history. <br />Private Loans <br />Private loans are available from a variety of banks and lenders. <br />The terms and rates for alternative loans are usually determined <br />by the lender. The eligibility for these loans Is determined by the <br />borrowers land co -borrowers) credit history. <br />FEDERAL COLLEGE WORK-STUDY PROGRAM <br />SLIT participates in the Federal College Work -Study Program with <br />award amounts based on demonstrated need. Work-study is <br />money that students may earn by working a part time job. The <br />program allows students to gain work experience and pay for a <br />part of their educational expenses as they earn their award. Funds <br />for this program come from the federal government, as well as, <br />the school. <br />SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS <br />Satisfactory academic progress is necessary to maintain eligibility <br />for Title IV and state funded programs. See the Academics section <br />for SCIT's Satisfactory Academic Progress criteria. <br />NOTICE TO APPLICANTS OF FINANCIAL AID <br />An offer of financial aid is contingent upon receipt of funds from <br />all funding sources. The Financial Aid Office reserves the right to <br />revise offers of financial aid at any time during the academic year <br />based on availability of funds and/or procedures mandated by the <br />state or federal authorities. Pursuant to the Privacy Act of 1947, <br />applicants for student financial aid are hereby notified that the <br />disclosure of their Social Security number is required by SLIT to <br />verify the identity of each applicant. If the student receives <br />federal student financial aid funds, the student Is responsible for <br />repaying the loan amount plus any Interest, less the amount of <br />any refund and is entitled to a refund of the money's not paid <br />from federal student financial aid program funds in accordance <br />with the SCIT Refund Policy. <br />VERIFICATION OF ENROLLMENT <br />The Financial Aid Office must verify each student's enrollment in <br />his or her scheduled course of study in order to release the <br />students' eligible financial Aid funds. Student acknowledges and <br />verifies his or her enrollment in his or her scheduled course to the <br />Financial Aid Office and the School by attending any single day of <br />the respective scheduled course in the Attendance Census Period <br />Financial Aid <br />or during any period In which the instructor of the course opts to <br />track attendance. An attendance record of P-Present, T-Tardy, or <br />E-Early Leave Indicates the student attended the course. The date <br />of Students verification of enrollment will be the date of the first <br />recorded attendance Indicating that Student attended the course. <br />TUITION & FEES <br />The student is obligated for the portion of the Total Cost <br />applicable to each Enrolled Quarter, herein referred to as the <br />Applicable quarter Cost. The student must pay the school the <br />Applicable Quarter Cost on or before the first day of the course of <br />study in the Enrolled Quarter unless the school agrees in writing <br />to different payment arrangements. Quarter charges are payable <br />in US funds, by check from a US bank, by money order in US <br />funds, by accepted major credit cards, by Federal Financial Aid, <br />and/or by payment arrangements made between the school and <br />the student and/or the school and third party funding agencies <br />sponsoring the student. The total tuition, course fees, books and <br />materials costs for each program of study is listed below. If the <br />tuition and fees change during the publication period of this <br />catalog, a Catalog Addendum will list the revised and effective <br />costs. If the student (1) enrolls in multiple programs, or (2) <br />request to enroll in additional courses outside the curricula of <br />his/her specified program(s), or (3) is awarded transfer credit, or <br />(4) has completed applicable coursework in prior enrollments at <br />the school, the school may adjust the Total Cost to reflect the <br />addition or removal of courses from the students' Academic Plan. <br />"The Estimated Quarter Cost Is an estimate of the Applicable <br />Quarter Cost for an Enrolled Quarter in the first academic year of <br />the respective program. This cost serves only as an estimate and <br />is based on a student enrolled in the respective program with a <br />full time academic status. The actual Applicable Quarter Costs for <br />each student may differ depending on their academic status for <br />the respective Enrolled Quarter, the academic year of the student <br />Page 13 of 69 <br />
