<br />CLASS HOURS & LOCATION
<br />Regular school office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.
<br />to 7:00 p.m. Classes are usually scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and
<br />10:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and between 9 a.m. and 4
<br />p.m. on Saturday (for certain courses), one to five nights a week.
<br />In certain circumstances, classes may be scheduled outside of
<br />these times. All in -person courses are conducted at the school,
<br />which is located at 525 North Muller Street, Anaheim, CA 92801.
<br />DISTANCE EDUCATION DELIVERY
<br />Courses delivered through distance education may be offered
<br />either fully online or as hybrid online courses. Fully online courses
<br />include a combination of watching online video recordings and
<br />participating in live, online teleconference sessions with the
<br />instructor of the course. Hybrid online courses include watching
<br />online video recordings and participating in in -person class
<br />sessions conducted at the school (located at 525 North Muller
<br />Street, Anaheim, CA 92801), which are generally courses requiring
<br />substantial in -class coursework such as supervised laboratory
<br />courses. The system by which online courses are delivered
<br />requires the student to log in with a school Issued student
<br />account. Online courses, whether fully online or hybrid online,
<br />are accessible when the student signs in with his or her school
<br />issued student account using any computer connected to the
<br />internet. When signed in, the student has access to the online
<br />video recordings, the ability to join live teleconference sessions
<br />with the instructor, and access to course materials that the
<br />instructor posts to the online class webpage, including, but not
<br />limited to, assignments, exams and the course syllabus. The
<br />student will also be able to submit assignments and complete
<br />examinations online when signed Into the online course.
<br />COURSE SEQUENCE, CANCELLATION & CHANGES
<br />The actual sequence in which courses are taken may vary based
<br />on schedule needs. The school reserves the right to revise, add,
<br />delete and/or cancel classes if the proper facilities, equipment or
<br />staff are not available or if the number enrolled is Insufficient as
<br />determined by the school. Students will be notified of any
<br />cancellations. Curriculum changes may impact both current and
<br />returning students. If a change occurs, the education department
<br />will establish an alternative plan of study that must be completed
<br />in lieu of the original requirements. In special circumstances,
<br />students may be scheduled for elective courses, which need to be
<br />approved by the dean of education and director of the school.
<br />Students are scheduled with prerequisite sequences taken Into
<br />consideration and usually take lower division courses prior to
<br />upper division courses. The school reserves the right to modify a
<br />students' schedule based on scheduling needs.
<br />SCHEDULE CHANGE REQUESTS
<br />Students may request to have their schedules changed or
<br />modified by notifying the school. Schedule change requests may
<br />include session changes, change of classes, or any request that is
<br />class scheduling related. Students will be notified of the result of
<br />the schedule change request within one week. Students must be
<br />aware that schedule change requests may extend their projected
<br />graduation date and/or may be denied due to scheduling conflicts
<br />as determined by the school.
<br />CLASS SIZES
<br />Class sizes will be appropriate to the course of instruction and
<br />shall contribute to the achievement of the course objectives. All
<br />courses, whether in -person, fully online or hybrid online,
<br />generally range between 10 to a maximum of 50 students.
<br />ACADEMIC YEARS, QUARTERS &ACADEMIC
<br />STATUS
<br />An Academic Year is a period of time the student Is enrolled in the
<br />school whereby each academic year is equal to three (3)
<br />consecutive Enrolled Quarters, which begins with the first
<br />Enrolled Quarter. An Enrolled Quarter is a school defined
<br />instructional period of 10 weeks whereby the Student could enroll
<br />in at least one course scheduled within the respective quarter. A
<br />Quarter Academic Status Is the students status for an Enrolled
<br />Quarter whereby the students Quarter Academic Status is equal
<br />to: (1) Full Time if the Student is scheduled in twelve or more
<br />credit units within the respective quarter, or (2) 3/4 Time if the
<br />Student is scheduled in nine or more but less than twelve credit
<br />units within the respective quarter, or (3)1/2 Time If the Student
<br />is scheduled in six or more but less than nine credit units within
<br />the respective quarter, or (4) Less than 1/2 Time If the Student is
<br />scheduled in less than six credit units within the respective
<br />quarter. A student is considered scheduled for a course in an
<br />Enrolled Quarter if s/he is enrolled in a course meeting the
<br />following criteria: (1) that is in progress or has not yet begun, or
<br />(2) whereby s/he received an'A-F' grade, or (3) whereby s/he has
<br />an attendance record for any of the courses scheduled days, or (4)
<br />that ends after another course meeting any of the
<br />aforementioned criteria within the Enrolled Quarter.
<br />QUARTER AND CREDIT UNIT DEFINITION
<br />At Southern California Institute of Technology, programs are
<br />measured In Quarter Credit Units. One (1) Quarter Credit Unit=
<br />15 didactic clock hours, 20 laboratory clock hours or 60 out -of -
<br />class work/preparation clock hours as part of a didactic or
<br />laboratory based course. One clock hour is equal to 60 minutes
<br />where, at minimum, 50 minutes of the clock hour is for
<br />Instructional activity. Courses may be composed of one or more of
<br />the specified clock hour types. For example, a one (1) Quarter
<br />Credit Unit didactic based course maybe composed of 10 didactic
<br />clock hours and 20 out -of -class work/preparation clock hours.
<br />Didactic clock hours may be a combination of asynchronous and
<br />synchronous instruction when delivered through a distance
<br />education modality. A Quarter is a school defined instructional
<br />period of ten (10) weeks whereby the Student enrolls in at least
<br />one course within the Quarter. A Students Enrollment Status for
<br />an enrolled Quarter is equal to (1) Full Time if the Student Is
<br />enrolled In twelve or more Quarter Credit Units within the
<br />respective quarter, or (2) 314 Time if the Student Is enrolled in
<br />nine or more but less than twelve Quarter Credit Units within the
<br />respective quarter, or (3)112 Time If the Student Is enrolled in six
<br />or more but less than nine Quarter Credit Units within the
<br />respective quarter, or (4) Less than 112 Time If the Student is
