511viTne n
Roadway Improvement Plan & Profile will show all existing conditions, as shown on the base
sheets and all existing underground utilities (sewer; water; power; communication; gas mains and
associated laterals; storm drains; catch basins and laterals, manhole and valve covers, meter boxes,
etc). Proposed improvement work shall indicate limits of roadway widening, including removals and
replacements; limits of AC pavement cold planing, overlay and/or rehabilitation areas; adjustment of
manholes, vaults and valves to grade. Plans also shall indicate removal/replacement of curbs, gutters,
sidewalks, accessramps, parkway/curb drains and protection of existing facilities. At a minimum, each
sheet shall contain a north arrow, scale, match lines with station and sheet reference, plan and profile
construction notes for all improvements on the sheet. Profile shall show existing and proposed tops of
curb elevations with corresponding station and slope of curb between each grade break. For pedestrian
ramps, elevations at BCR and ECR and "join existing" will be shown appropriately. Elevations also will
be provided at quarter points. Dimensions of the distance between each quarter point and the length of
the curve will be shown.
Grading/Retaining Wall Plans will be prepared for the addition of the designated right -turn lane.
These plans are primarily for grading operations and shall show required grading, retaining walls and
wall drainage needs. Appropriate grading and retaining wall notes and details will also be shown on the
plans, with top of wall and footing elevations in profile view.
Signing and Striping Plans will be prepared for Bake Parkway
and Trabuco Road/Irvine Boulevard intersection. The plans shall
be prepared in accordance to the City standards and design
criteria, the California MUTCD 2012 Edition, and the Caltrans
Standard Plans and Specifications (latest edition). Plans will show
existing and proposed signs within the project limits and proposed
pavement delineation and pavement legends/arrows within the
project limits.
Traffic Signal Modification Plan will be prepared using City
standards, City of Irvine Standards, Caltrans Standard Plans,
and the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices
(MUTCD). Key design components of this traffic signal will be
continued protected left -turn phasing for the dual eastbound left -
turn move on Bake Parkway, and countdown pedestrian signal
heads and bicycle detection for the additional right turn lane,
which are requirements of the current MUTCD. Additionally, to
meet ADA requirements, pedestrian ramps with truncated domes
are required for all four corners of the intersection. During our
site visit for the proposal, it appears as though all four corners
currently meet the ADA access requirements. This will be verified during the design, and if deficient,
improvements will be called out on the construction plans with the appropriate Orange County Public
Works Standard Plan detail. The traffic signal modification plan will be prepared at 20 scale, and will
show centerlines, right-of-way, above ground and underground utilities obtained from the field visit and
record drawings, and all signal equipment and striping.
Landscape Planting Plans will be prepared showing the graphic location and identification of lant
materials to be used, including quantities, sizes, varieties and planting details for site conditions.
Landscape Irrigation Plans will be designed showing the diagrammatic layout of landscape irrigation
piping, valves, control equipment, sprinkler heads and related equipment for the irrigation of planted
areas, specifically calling out pipe and equipment sizing and types, brand and model. This will also
include necessary details for the installation of the system. System will be designed utilizing current low
flow drought tolerant system, unless required otherwise by City.
RICK City of Santa Ana I On -Call Engineering Services, RFP No.: 23-030 26
