WDM0522 Page 2 of 23 March 1, 2022 <br /> <br /> <br />CalWORKs recipients in overcoming barriers to obtaining and/or maintaining <br />stable employment, with the goal of achieving economic self-sufficiency. <br />2.3 CalJOBS: California’s online resource to help job seekers and employers navigate <br />the State’s workforce services. <br />2.4 Employment Readiness Assessment (ERA): An evaluation of employability and <br />the need for support services considering work history, employment skills, <br />knowledge and abilities, education, educational competency level, local labor <br />market conditions, physical limitations, or mental conditions. <br />2.5 Vocational Training (VTR): VTR is a temporary, transitional, and short -term <br />training activity, not to exceed twelve (12) months, to prepare PARTICIPANTS for <br />employment in a specific trade, occupation, or vocation. VTR may be extended <br />upon prior approval from ADMINISTRATOR. <br />2.6 Work Experience (WEX): WEX is a paid structured training experience in which <br />PARTICIPANTS’ employers are partially or fully reimbursed fo r wages and/or <br />training costs through a government subsidy. PARTICIPANTS are placed in <br />public, non-profit, or private sectors for an initial period of six (6) months, with the <br />option of two (2) three-month extensions, for up to a maximum of twelve (12) <br />months. At the end of the training period, it is generally expected that the <br />employers will hire PARTICIPANTS as regular employees. <br />2.7 Workforce Development Board (WDB): WDBs are part of the Public Workforce <br />System, a network of federal, state, and local offices that support economic <br />expansion and develop the talent of the nation’s workforce. The local WDBs’ role <br />is to develop regional strategic plans and set funding priorities for their area. <br />2.8 Workforce Investment Act (WIA)/Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act <br />(WIOA): The federal WIA of 1998 provides the framework for a national <br />workforce preparation and employment system. Title I of WIA authorizes and <br />funds several employment and training programs in California. Workforce <br />investment activities authorized by WIA/WIOA are provided at the local level via <br />local Workforce Development Boards (WDB), to PARTICIPANTS in need of
