Neighborhood <br />Improvement <br />Continue to assist, create, and support <br />neighborhood associations to collaborate <br />on projects and sponsor and hold annual <br />events. Continue to support the <br />Communication Linkage Forum and the <br />Community Development Resource <br />Network to train and equip residents to be <br />leaders in their neighborhoods. <br />Ongoing The City currently has 64 recognized neighborhood associations,with possibly another <br />neighborhood associaiton being added,with 50 of those currently active;and encourages <br />collaboration and coordination between residents,their volunteer associations,100+ <br />Home Owner Associations (HOAs),apartment owners,municipal agencies,and <br />hundreds of neighbor-serving,faith-based and community-based organizations.NIP <br />began offering a hybrid meeting option to engage residents in-person and virtually to <br />participate, connect, and give feedback at community meetings <br />5. Neighborhood <br />Infrastructure <br />Continue to complete infrastructure <br />improvements in residential neighborhoods <br />consistent with the City Capital <br />Improvement Plan. Continue to seek <br />additional funds to improve infrastructure, <br />including state and federal grants for <br />improvements for health and wellness. <br />Ongoing & Annual In 2020,$20 million were expended to reconstruct approximately 14.3 miles of local <br />streets and 5.6 miles of arterial streets.The City continued to implement two community <br />based planning efforts to improve walk-ability and bike-ability in the City.The Active <br />Transportation Plan,approved in June 2019,evaluated citywide bicycle and pedestrian <br />networks through an extensive outreach process and includes recommendations based <br />on the community input.The Safe Routes to School Plan identifies goals for walking <br />audits at all public schools in Santa Ana to update the safe walking and biking routes to <br />school maps.Both plans will provide the City with a list of projects that the City will use <br />for pursuing grant funding for implementation.
