Medical Assistant: Clinical & Administrative <br />New Medical Assistant: Clinical & Administrative students start every Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer Terms, <br />COURSE DESCRIPTION: . <br />North Orange County ROP Medical Assistant Training Program provides students with the skills and the <br />experience necessary to gain confidence in a rewarding career as a Medical Assistant. Students will learn the <br />basic functions and duties within an administrative and clinical setting in preparation for the Medical Assistant <br />certification examination through National Center for Competency Testing, The program consists of 21 — 28 <br />weeks, including a total of 276 hours in theory and a 5-week clinical internship (120 — 160 hours). Externships <br />are provided within the Orange County Region. After completing the Medical Assistant Training Program along <br />with 120-160 hours of work -related experience, the student will be eligible to take the Medical Assistant <br />certification exam through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). All course materials will be <br />provided in order to support and prepare students for a successful career in Medical Assisting. <br />COURSE OUTCOMES & CERTIFICATIONS: <br />Students who successfully complete this course, including 120-160 hours of clinical externship are eligible to <br />take the Medical Assistant certification exam through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). <br />TOTAL COURSE COST: <br />$3,350; $500 to register. Payment plan available. <br />TOTAL PROGRAM HOURS: <br />276 hours of theory + 120-160 hours of clinical externship <br />CLASS DAYS/TIMES: <br />See current class schedule <br />PREREQUISITES: <br />Successful completion of Medical Terminology, or equivalent course <br />Recommended basic computer knowledge <br />NCCT Medical Assistant Certification requires a high school diploma or GED <br />o *For those who do not have a high school diploma or GED, a Medical Assistant certification <br />examination is available through the California Certified Board for Medical Assistant (CCBMA), <br />for approximately $145 <br />MANDATORY ORIENTATION: <br />Students will be sent a welcome email approximately two weeks before the class start date to complete the <br />orientation and to become familiar with the Student Portal. <br />FOR MORE INFORMATION, EMAIL studentportal@nocrop.us or CALL (714) 502-5834 <br />31 <br />
