APPENDIX I <br /> TERMINOLOGY <br /> A. Interpretation /Terminology <br /> The following terms are for convenience and reference only and are not intended to <br /> define or limit the scope of any provision hereof. The following words shall be construed <br /> to have the following meanings, unless otherwise apparent from the context in which they <br /> are used: <br /> 1. As Needed: To maintain the grounds in a clean appearance as determined by <br /> the City. The intent is to permit the City to receive services beyond the <br /> scheduled frequencies on an occasional basis. Should a service be needed <br /> on a consistent basis the City shall amend the Contract with Contractor subject <br /> to approval by the City Council. <br /> 2. Additional Cleaning (or Operation): The completion of all maintenance tasks, <br /> in whole or in part, to ensure that the specified conditions resulting from the <br /> "Initial Cleaning" or"Initial Operation" sustained or retained. <br /> 3. Appurtenances: Objects or features, which are component parts of the areas <br /> to be maintained. Appurtenances include, but are not limited to: seat walls, <br /> bollards, valve boxes, bike racks, fences, walls, monument pedestals, <br /> decorative features, benches, picnic tables, light standards/flag poles, <br /> handrails, electrical panels and transformer enclosures, and signage. <br /> 4. Sport/Priority Turf: Grass surfaces are maintained for the goal of primarily <br /> providing a smooth, safe playing surface for sports. <br /> 5. Automated Irrigation System: Valves, sprinklers, etc., that are operated using <br /> a controller which functions electrically, hydraulically, or thermally. <br /> 6. Biopesticide: Certain types of pesticides are derived from such natural <br /> materials as animals, plants, bacteria, and certain minerals. <br /> 7. BMP: Best Management Practices are identified by individual industry and <br /> must be incorporated into the operational management of the Contract. <br /> 8. Centrally Operated Irrigation System: Sprinklers, valves, etc., are turned on <br /> remotely from centralized software. <br /> 9. Confined Area: An area of turf bordered on three (3) or more sides by shrub <br /> beds, planters, hardscapes, walls, fences, play areas, decomposed granite <br /> areas, or other like borders. <br /> 10. Contiguous Hardscape: Hardscape medians that are on the same street as the <br /> landscaped medians and continue through to the next major intersection. <br /> 11. CR: City Representative. <br /> 12. EIC: Employee in Charge. <br /> 13. Emergency: An unforeseen combination of circumstances or the resulting <br /> state that calls for immediate assistance or relief. <br /> 14. AEW: Authorized Extra Work not in the contract to be approved by CR before <br />
