ORDINANCE NS-2232 287 <br />Page 10 <br /> <br />statement as to the nature and frequency of the employment. The <br />said application shall be denied by the department head or city <br />manager if he or she has reasonable cause to believe that such <br />outside employment will be inconsistent, incompatible, in conflict, <br />or interferes in any way with the proper performance of the duties <br />as a city employee. Permission to engage in outside employment <br />will be granted for a period not to exceed six (6) months and <br />extensions may be granted by the department head for additional six <br />(6) month periods. The personnel board may, upon request of the <br />employee, review any action taken pursuant to the provisions of <br />this section and report its findings to the city council and the <br />city manager. <br /> <br />Sec. 9-17. Excepted service inclusion. <br /> <br /> The vacation and sick leave provisions of these rules and <br />regulations shall apply to all regular full-time city employees of <br />the excepted service who are eligible to become members of the <br />state employees' retirement system. <br /> <br />ARTICLE II. EXAMINATIONS <br /> <br />Sec. 9-32. Announcement. <br /> <br /> Whenever an examination is to be given, the executive director <br />of personnel services shall give sufficient public notice to ensure <br />an adequate number of applications are received from qualified <br />individuals. Notices for open competitive examinations shall be <br />posted on a bulletin board at the city hall, readily available to <br />the public, in the office of the executive director of personnel <br />services and in the departments where exist classifications for <br />which examinations are being held, and in such other places as may <br />attract qualified candidates. The notices will contain sufficient <br />information relative to the examination to indicate to interested <br />candidates the duties and prerequisites of the position, together <br />with dates, salaries and pertinent benefits. Promotional examina- <br />tions will be published by means of notices posted in the depart- <br />ments containing qualified candidates and in the office of the <br />executive director of personnel services. <br /> <br />Sec. 9-33. Applications. <br /> <br /> Applications to take examinations shall be submitted in the <br />manner and/or on forms approved by the executive director of <br />personnel services. They must be received in the office of the <br />executive director of personnel services prior to the hour and date <br />established in the examination announcement or, in the case of <br /> <br />10 <br /> <br /> <br />
