Page 9 <br /> <br />of understanding. <br /> <br />Employee performance appraisals, including those prepared as <br />directed in this section will be delivered to the executive <br />director of personnel services for filing with the records of the <br />employee. Performance appraisals will be considered in making merit <br />salary advances and may be considered a factor in promotional <br />examinations, demotions, and dismissals. <br /> <br />sec. 9-12. Same--Employee Records. <br /> <br /> Department heads shall furnish the executive director of <br />personnel services with written reports of any disciplinary action <br />involving loss of pay, and of any especially noteworthy communica- <br />tion or oral commendation or condemnation received or written by <br />the department head relative to the performance of any employee. <br /> <br />Sec. 9-13. Training of employees. <br /> <br /> Department heads are responsible for on-the-job training of <br />employees, in their respective departments. This training shall <br />promote safety of personnel and property and shall promote <br />efficiency in operations. <br /> <br />Sec. 9-14. Attendance--Hours of work. <br /> <br /> Eight (8) hours shall constitute a normal day and forty (40) <br />hours of work shall constitute a minimum workweek, except for <br />employees for whom special provisions have been approved by the <br />council. Employees shall be in attendance at their work during <br />prescribed hours and shall not absent themselves during prescribed <br />hours without approval of the department head. <br /> <br />Sec. 9-15. Attendance--Records. <br /> <br /> Ail departments shall keep attendance records prescribed by <br />the city manager and shall transmit them to the executive director <br />of personnel services on the dates he or she shall specify. <br /> <br />Sec. 9-16. Outside employment. <br /> <br /> Employees in the competitive service shall not engage in any <br />employment or sales or service outside of their regular city <br />employment, except with the written approval of the department head <br />and consent of the city manager. Such permission may be granted for <br />intermittent or casual employment in sales, services or in <br />connection with educational programs, if the request contains a <br /> <br />9 <br /> <br /> <br />
