Eligible lists--Preparation; approval, etc. <br /> <br /> Upon completion of any examination, the city manager shall <br />cause to be prepared and shall approve eligible lists with the <br />persons who passed such examination being listed as follows: <br /> <br /> (a) For promotional only exams, candidates who passed~such <br /> examination shall be listed on the promotional eligible <br /> list in relative order of the score received, from <br /> highest to lowest. <br /> <br /> (b) For open exams, candidates who passed such examination <br /> shall be placed on the open eligible list in three (3) <br /> groups or bands, as follows: <br /> <br /> Band A: Candidates shall be placed in this band if <br /> their adjusted scores are equal to or higher than ninety <br /> (90.00) percent. <br /> <br /> Band B: Candidates shall be placed in this band if <br /> their adjusted scores are equal to or higher than eighty <br /> (80.00) percent but less than ninety (90.00) percent. <br /> <br /> Band C: Candidates shall be placed in this band if <br /> their adjusted scores are equal to or higher than seventy <br /> (70.00) percent but less than eighty (80.00) percent. <br /> <br /> Within each band, names of candidates shall be listed in <br /> alphabetical order. <br /> <br /> (c) For combination open and promotional exams, promotional <br /> candidates who passed such examination shall be placed on <br /> the promotional eligible list if they achieve the minimum <br /> required score, as provided in section 9-36. <br /> <br />Sec. 9-46. Same Eligible Lists--Duration. <br /> <br /> Such eligible lists shall remain in effect for the time period <br />listed below, unless within such period the executive director of <br />personnel services shall not be able to certify for appointment the <br />number of persons required under the provisions of this chapter. <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />Eligible lists for classifications designated as "local <br />police/fire safety" members of the Public Employees' <br />Retirement System shall be in effect for two (2) years. <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />Eligible lists for all classifications which are not <br />included in (a) above shall be in effect for six (6) <br />months, but may be extended in six (6) month increments <br />with the approval of the city manager to allow for a <br />maximum life of list of two (2) years. <br /> <br />15 <br /> <br /> <br />
