In Re Accident Henderson Jones In Re Paving North Broadway In Re Ordinance No. 561 Censor Oonmission ~ving been appointed a oo~mittee to investigate an alleged anoident lo Henderson Jones,while in the employ of the Oity of 8ants Aha, ! beg to make the following report:, Mt. Henderson Jones-had pneumonia in Jan.tgl2, leaving hie left a leg bedly swollen from which cause he was unable to work for five months- began work for the City on August 12,191S, a~ain, worked until Jan.191~, hurt hie ankle by having it rubbed with a stiff shoe while cleaning streets, which caused an ulcer on the left ankle, he was off work for two day~, put back to w~rk by ~nglish, plowing streets on G~and Aveuue, he says, 'lhile plowing the streets a slab of asphalt fell on ankle, injuring the sore already there, from this injury h* wa~ off work after two days, -until Au6.191~, again being placed at %he 0i*y Barn in the Street Department. From ~ observation and from all that ! can learn in the matter I am of the opinion that Mr. Jones' conten- tion is not tho right one, ! am of the opinion that Mt.Jones' trouble is not caused by an ancidental and that the 0i~y ie not liable in any way. On motion of Alderman, seconded by Grubb and carried, it is ordered that the claim of Henderson Jones for an alleged injury while in the City's employ be denied. L.A. West appeared before the Board and asked that eid~ trenches be thoroughly tamped before the 1tying of l)ave- merit; on motion of MoPhee, seconded by Grubb and carried, ~he 0Sty Clerk is directed to notify ~he 8outhern 0curt- ties Gas Oompany and contractors who u~e streets for ing pipe l*~tes to see that cross ditches are threu~y tamped and ~ettled, and ~hat trenches be settled water.
