Bennett In Re Grain for Street Department On motion of Alderman, duly seconded and carried, a oomauni- cation from J.~.MoDonald Secretary of the Joint Pole O~nmmittee, in reference to telephone lines being installed by the Home Telephone C~=~any on ~irst Street was ordered filed and the Cit7 Clark was imetruoted to notify the Home Telephone Co=~any to enter into Joint pole usa on First Street at the time the cable for it~ telephone lines are installed, and that in the future all proposed new line work must be referred to the Board of Tru. tees before the work ia cemmenoed. # Max L. Buber~an, contractor, appeared before the Board and asked permission to close ~orth Broadwa7 from l§th Street to Santa Olara Avenue upon completion of paving work now being performed on North Broadwa7 from Hickey Street to 15thStreet. Mr. Buberman agrees to pa7 all expenses now incurred for such .steps that the Board have taken under the Vrooman Act if the entire street is paved under private contract, and it is found not necessary to enforce the Vrooman Act. With this under- standing personally ex~ressed by Mr. Huherman to the Board of Trustees it is on motion of Grubb,duly seconded and carried, ordered that the request of Mr. Buberman be granted. # Mr.C.F. Bennett, a mea~er of a cca~ittee, appeared before Board and stated that the ~armere' ~X1Atb ,:o had under confider- etlon a prc~ition to donate to the City a ~Aeee of propert! on North Main Btreet ~orth of Santa Olara for a park for rest purposes. The park .to be in the center of streets leading from Main Street to ~roadwa7 on the West, Maim Btreet on the and Santa Clara on the South. On motion of Alderman duly seconded and carried, if this piece of propert7 is d~lted the City for park-purPoses the Cit7 agrees to a~ept the eeme and install the necessary improvements sad agrees to ~he u~heep of the propose~park. C.A. Bennett appeared hefoz~ the Board and stated that two years a/,o he was granted permission to stand his auto fer hire at the ,goutheast oe~er of 4th and Main Streets by the Board of Trustees, and that while he had h~s car off the street for repaire that another party had pre-empted his position on the street and ho asked the Bo&rd for relief. On motion of Alderman, duly secm~led ~ carried,Trustees ~eenleod,H~Phoe and the City Marshal are named a oomaittee to investigate and report, at next meeting of the Board. # On motion d~ly seconded and carried, trustees ~rubb and Alder- man and Street 8vl~intendent Ungli~ are named a committee to purellAse onf~bat~ o&wloa~ of otto for the Street ~epartm~nt.
