193 City Hall, Santa Ana, Cal. May ?th. 1917, ?; 30 p.m. Board met in regular session. Meeting called to order by President Vlsel. Present, Trustees Tubbs, MoPhee, Greenleaf, Maryatt, Minutes of last meeting read and approved. Vieel and the Clerk. In Re Protest,~.C.T.U. In Re Spurgeon St. In Re Petition Hannah et.bridge In Re Petition to raise salaries Street Dept. In Re Jitney license,King &Frasier In Re Permit to enter upon streets for paving In Re Inspection Garfield St. pavement to a committee. and Greenleaf, A protest from the W.C.T.U. in reference to lowering the age limit of 21 years of boys and girls entering bowling alleys was read and on motion of Trustee McPhee, duly seconded by Greenleaf and carried, same was ordered received and placed on file. A petition from E.E.¢ooley'ln reference to straightening out Spurgeon St. at 14th was re~d and on motion of Trustee Green- leaf, duly seconded by Tubbs and carried, same wa~ referred President Visel appointing Trustees M~Phee City Engineer and Water Supt. ms such committee. A petition from residents in the Northwest part of the City asking that a bridge be built across the Santiago Creek on North Flower St. (formerly Hannah St.)was read, and on motion of Trustee ~reenleaf, duly seconded by Tubbs and carried, ordered received and placed on file. A petition signed by eleven employees of the Street Dept. the asking that · rate of $2.35 per day for labor performed in the Street Dept. be increased to $3.00 per day, was read amd on motion of Trustee Greenleaf, duly seconded by Maryattmd carried, referred to the Board as a committee of the whole and report Monday May 14th, at 7:30 p.m. The application of King & Frasler for a Jitney license accom- panied by a $10,OOO bond with the Golden State Indemnity Co. a~ surety, was on motion of Trustee Tubbs, duly seconded by Maryatt and carried, license granted and bond referred to the President for approval. Upon motion of Trustee Greenleaf, duly seconded by Tubbs and carried, Wells & Bresslar were granted permission to enter upon the following streets: Birch from 6th to lOth, Parton 5th to Hlokey, 10th from Broadway to Ross, Orchard from Roes to Van Ness, for the purpose of completing, the improvement of paving the above said portion of streets under Specifl~tionl Nc.g2. The request of the Orange Co.Eng. and Construction Co. for a certificate of satisfactory completion of the pavement on Garfield St., from the North line of 6th to the North line of Stafford, under Specifications No.~2, was on ·otion~ Trustee
