193 <br /> <br />City Hall, Santa Ana, Cal. <br /> <br /> May ?th. 1917, ?; 30 p.m. <br /> <br />Board met in regular session. <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by President Vlsel. <br /> <br />Present, Trustees Tubbs, MoPhee, Greenleaf, Maryatt, <br /> <br />Minutes of last meeting read and approved. <br /> <br />Vieel and the Clerk. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Protest,~.C.T.U. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Spurgeon St. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Petition Hannah et.bridge <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Petition to raise salaries <br />Street Dept. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Jitney license,King &Frasier <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Permit to enter upon streets <br /> <br />for paving <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Inspection Garfield St. <br /> pavement <br /> <br />to a committee. <br />and Greenleaf, <br /> <br />A protest from the W.C.T.U. in reference to lowering the <br />age limit of 21 years of boys and girls entering bowling <br />alleys was read and on motion of Trustee McPhee, duly <br />seconded by Greenleaf and carried, same was ordered received <br />and placed on file. <br /> <br />A petition from E.E.¢ooley'ln reference to straightening out <br />Spurgeon St. at 14th was re~d and on motion of Trustee Green- <br />leaf, duly seconded by Tubbs and carried, same wa~ referred <br /> <br /> President Visel appointing Trustees M~Phee <br /> City Engineer and Water Supt. ms such committee. <br /> <br /> A petition from residents in the Northwest part of the City <br /> asking that a bridge be built across the Santiago Creek on <br /> North Flower St. (formerly Hannah St.)was read, and on motion <br /> of Trustee ~reenleaf, duly seconded by Tubbs and carried, <br /> ordered received and placed on file. <br /> <br /> A petition signed by eleven employees of the Street Dept. <br /> the <br /> asking that · rate of $2.35 per day for labor performed in <br /> <br /> the Street Dept. be increased to $3.00 per day, was read amd <br /> on motion of Trustee Greenleaf, duly seconded by Maryattmd <br /> carried, referred to the Board as a committee of the whole <br /> and report Monday May 14th, at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br /> The application of King & Frasler for a Jitney license accom- <br /> panied by a $10,OOO bond with the Golden State Indemnity Co. <br /> a~ surety, was on motion of Trustee Tubbs, duly seconded by <br /> Maryatt and carried, license granted and bond referred to the <br /> President for approval. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Trustee Greenleaf, duly seconded by Tubbs and <br /> carried, Wells & Bresslar were granted permission to enter <br /> upon the following streets: Birch from 6th to lOth, Parton <br /> <br /> 5th to Hlokey, 10th from Broadway to Ross, Orchard from Roes <br />to Van Ness, for the purpose of completing, the improvement <br />of paving the above said portion of streets under Specifl~tionl <br />Nc.g2. <br /> <br />The request of the Orange Co.Eng. and Construction Co. for a <br />certificate of satisfactory completion of the pavement on <br />Garfield St., from the North line of 6th to the North line of <br />Stafford, under Specifications No.~2, was on ·otion~ Trustee <br /> <br /> <br />
