<br />On motion of Trustee Goode, seconded by Chaney and car-

<br />tied, the City -.Engineer was instructed to prepare plans

<br />and specifications for the widening of West Seventeenth
<br />
<br />Street between Main and Flower Street, according to peti-
<br />
<br />tion filed.
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Goode, seconded by McBride and car-
<br />
<br />tied, the City Engineer was ordered to prepare and fur-
<br />
<br />nish specifications for the Acquisition and Improvement
<br />
<br />of District No. 4, known as Santa Ana Boulevard, of the
<br />
<br />City of Santa Ana, California.
<br />
<br /> ~ereas, the public interest and necessity require the
<br />acquisitions and improvements hereinafter set forth:
<br /> Now, Therefore, Be it Re~olved: That Clyde L. Jenken,
<br />City Engineer of the City of Santa Ana is hereby appoin-
<br />ted and designated and directed to prepare and furnish
<br />specifications fe~ the proposed acquistion and improve-
<br />ment of Santa Aha Boulevard frem Main Street to Chapman
<br />Avenue, the proposed acquisition of North Broadway be-
<br />tween its present Northerly termination and connecting
<br />with said Santa Ana Boulevard, and the improvement of
<br />Broadway from Santa Clara Avenue to and connecting with
<br />the said Santa Ana Boulevard, and for the proposed acqui-
<br />sition, widening and improvement of North Flower Street
<br />from Santa Clara Avenue to and connecting with the pro-
<br />posed Santa Ana Boulevard, including the construction of
<br />birdges across the Santiago Creek on Santa Ana Boulevard
<br />and Flower Street, and across the Santa Ana River on the
<br />proposed Santa Ana Boulevard, and the acquistions for
<br />necessary revetment work to protect the improvements pro-
<br />posed to be constructed on said Santa Aha Boulevard, and
<br />the improvement of portions of C~harlotte Street, Roe
<br />Drive, Main Street, Chapman Avenue and Riverside Drive,
<br />all as hereinafter described. Said specifications to
<br />include descriptions of all property to be acquired,
<br />together with a map or plat showing the same, and all
<br />plans and profiles, cross-sections and specifications
<br />necessary for the improvement, together with a statement
<br />of the estimated costs of the same (inclusive of inciden-
<br />tal expenses and costs of the proceeding) and also a
<br />description of the district to be benefited by the propo-
<br />sed acquisition and improvement, and to be known as the
<br />"Assessment District", and a map or plat showing the sam(
<br />and also the different zones within said district, con-
<br />taining the lands to be benefited in like measure but in
<br />· a different measure from those in other zones therein,
<br />with a statement as to what percentage of the sum to be
<br />raised each year for the payments on the principal and
<br />interest of the bonds should be raised from each zone,
<br />and shall show the grades to which the contemplated im-
<br />provements are to be constructed; the said district to b(
<br />known as "Acquisition and Improvement District No. 4 of
<br />the City of Santa Ana."
<br /> Said acquisition and improvements include the
<br /> The acquisition of a strip of land seventy (70) feet
<br /> in width, lying Northeasterly of an immediately adjacent
<br /> to the Southern Pacific Railroad Companyts right of way,
<br /> between Main Street and Chapman Avenue in the City of
<br /> Santa Ana, County of Orange, State of California, such
<br /> street to be known as and called Santa Ana Boulevard,
<br /> together with the necessary parcels of land for revetmen~
<br /> work to protect the improvements t~$e made upon and
<br /> along said Santa Ana Boulevard where the same crosses
<br /> Santiago Creek, and for slope easements along said Boule.
<br /> vard.
<br /> That the improvement of the said proposed Santa Ana
<br /> Boulevard shall include the grading and paving thereof
<br /> with Portland Cement Concrete Pavement, and the construc.
<br /> tion of Portland Cement'Concrete Curbs, along the curb
<br /> lines of said street and at street intersections, around
<br /> curves to intersect the curb lines of intersecting
<br /> streets, excepting those portions of said proposed Santa
<br /> Ana Boulevard to be occupied by two bridges, to be con-
<br /> structed as hereinafter described; said Santa Aha Boule-
<br /> vard also to be improvement by the installation of an
<br /> ornamental lighting system consisting of cast iron single
<br /> lighting standards, and all other necessary appurtenances
<br /> thereto; the construction of a reinforced concrete bridge
