Santa Ans City Hall. October let, 1934. V:30 P.M. City Council met'in regular session. Meeting called to order by Mayor Warner. Present: Truatees Fred C. Rowland, W. H. Penn, Plummet W. Bruns, E. G. Warner. Absent: Trustees A.F..LeGaye. Minutes of September 17th and 24th were approved as read. In Re Application John Estes. In Re Resignation A.T. Holmes, Policeman. In Re Electric Sign. In ~e Application H. W. Bedford. In Re Application Young WomenTs Christian Assn. In Re Appointment H. E. Holmes. In Re Application Huff ~ ~itted. On motion of ~ ~ truste,, Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, the application of John Estes for permission to hang two metal signs at 319 W. Fourth Street, was referred to the Electrical Inspector for investigation. On motion of Trustee Rowland, seconde~ by Pen~ and carried, the resignation of A. T. Holmes as a Police Officer of the C~ty of Santa A~a was accepted~to take effect October let. On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns end carried, the application of Gilbert-~..eston-Stearns to hang an elec- trical sign for Hart's Dry Goods Store at 306-08 N. Sycamore Street, was granted under supervision of the Electrical Inspector. The applM ation of H. W. Bedford for a permit to install and operate an Open Air ~arket GO the vacant property on West Third Street between Birch and Ross was read and the commu- nica'tion of tho Santa Ana Development Company with referencei to H. W. Bedford's application was also read. The committee appointed to investigate the application was given more time On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Rowland and carried, the application of the Young Women's Christian Association for permission to conduct their campaign to solicit the sum of ~VSO0.O0 d~aring the period of November l~th to 28th, 1934 was granted. On motion of Trustee Rowland, seconded by Bruns and carried the recommendation of the Police Captain was accepted and H. E. Holmes was appointed a police officsr of the City to take effect October 2nd, 1934. On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Rowland and carried the application .of Huff & ¥'~itted for the rezoning of prope: ty at V02 Bush Street from First Class Apartment House Zone to Business Zone, was referre'd to the Planning Commission.
