In Re Ordinance to Repeal Ord. #794~ On motion of Trustee Bruns~ seconded by Rowland and car- ried, the application of W. R. Crosby for permission to drive a taxicab for 0. W. Williams, was granted on rec~n- mendation of the City Attorney. Mayor Warner appointed Trustee Fred C. Rowland and Trustee Plummet W. Bruns as members of the Taxicab Commission to fill vacancies on the Commission. On motion of Trustee Rowland, seconded by Penn and the application of the Valencia Business Men's Club for permission to operate a Club at 3094 N. Broadway, was granted on recommendation of the City Attorney and the Chief of Police. On motion of Trustee Rowland, seconded by Penn and carried the communication of W. A. Taylor protesting against an appropriation of $42~O.00 to the Chamber of Commerce, was received~and filed. The motion of Trustee LeGaye to adopt the following Reso- ~lution was lost for lack of a secondto the motion: "EESOLVED, that it shall be the policy of the City Council in making up its annual budget for the year 1934- 35, that no money shall be budgeted or set aside from the treasury of the City, which is to be directly or indirect- ly contributed to any private group or organization, nor shall any money be so appropriated, except for the abso- lutely necessary functions of government and then only in amounts absolutely necessary and to be exper~ed by those duly and regularly elected officials, so that the respon- sibility for such ex~enditure can be placed by the voter upon such officials.
