R. Crosby for permission to <br />drive a taxicab for 0. W. Williams, was granted on rec~n- <br />mendation of the City Attorney. <br /> <br />Mayor Warner appointed Trustee Fred C. Rowland and Trustee <br />Plummet W. Bruns as members of the Taxicab Commission to <br />fill vacancies on the Commission. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Rowland, seconded by Penn and <br />the application of the Valencia Business Men's Club for <br />permission to operate a Club at 3094 N. Broadway, was <br />granted on recommendation of the City Attorney and the <br />Chief of Police. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Rowland, seconded by Penn and carried <br />the communication of W. A. Taylor protesting against an <br />appropriation of $42~O.00 to the Chamber of Commerce, was <br />received~and filed. <br /> <br />The motion of Trustee LeGaye to adopt the following Reso- <br /> <br />~lution was lost for lack of a secondto the motion: <br /> <br /> "EESOLVED, that it shall be the policy of the City <br />Council in making up its annual budget for the year 1934- <br />35, that no money shall be budgeted or set aside from the <br />treasury of the City, which is to be directly or indirect- <br />ly contributed to any private group or organization, nor <br />shall any money be so appropriated, except for the abso- <br />lutely necessary functions of government and then only in <br />amounts absolutely necessary and to be exper~ed by those <br />duly and regularly elected officials, so that the respon- <br />sibility for such ex~enditure can be placed by the voter <br />upon such officials. <br /> <br />The motion of Trustee LeGaye fc~ the adoption of an 0rdi- <br /> <br />nance to repeal Ordinance No. 794 providing for the levy <br /> <br />and collection of a tax not exceeding twelve cents on each <br /> <br />One Hundred Dollars, for the purpose of providing music <br /> <br />and for adverti~ngpurposes, was lost for lack~of a sec- <br /> <br />end and the request of Trustee LeGaye ordered made a part <br /> <br />of the minutes. The Ordinance presented is as follows: <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NUMBER <br /> <br /> An Ordinance of the City of Santa Ana providing for the <br />repeal of Ordinance Number 794 of the City of Santa Ana, <br />entitled 'An Ordinance providing for the levy and collect- <br />ion of a tax not exceeding twelve cents (S0.1B) on each <br />One HUndred ($100.00) Dollars, for the purpose of provid- <br />ing music and for advertising purposes. SECTION 1. <br /> That Ordinance Number 794 of the Cit~y of Santa Ana pro- <br />viding for the levy and collection of a tax not exceeding <br />twelve cents ($0.12) on each One Hundred Dollars.($100.O0 <br /> <br /> <br />
