Penn, Plummet W. Bruns, E.G. Smith. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Rowland and car- <br />ried, the communication of the American Bitumuls Company <br />complimenting the City Council on the recent construction <br />of an emulsified asphalt maintenance truck and urging that <br />it be displayed at the meeting of the California League <br />of Municipalities to be held in Pasadena, September 24th <br />to 2Vth, was referred to the City Engineer. <br /> <br />A communication was read from S. H. Finley, Secretary of <br />the Metropolitan Water District, reporting that ninety- <br />two Santa Ana men were employed on the Colorado River <br />Aqueduct during the month of July and they received in <br />wages and salaries the sum of $9,127.41. On motion of <br />Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, the communi- <br />cation was referred to the Finance Comuittee. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Penn and carried, <br />the communication from the Unemployed Association, Unit <br />#15 thanking the Council for granting two members of thei: <br />Association permission to solicit in Santa Ana, was <br />received and filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Rowland and car- <br />ried, the application of Sam Sharkey for permission to <br /> <br />erect a stand for the p~pose <br />located at 104 N. Main Street, <br /> <br />of selling fruit on propert <br />was taken under advisement <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Rowland and car- <br />ried, the agreement between the Southern Pacific Company <br />and the City of Santa Aha covering proposed six-inch <br />sewer pipe crossing at Stafford Street, was referred to <br />the City Engineer and Attorney. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Rowland and car- <br />ried, the application of Elbert E. Smith for permission <br /> <br />to drive a taxicab for C. W. Williams, was referred to <br />the Taxicab Commissi on. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Rowland and car- <br />ried, the application of Elbert E. Smith was granted on <br /> <br /> <br />
