Main St. <br /> <br />A petition was read signed by 12~ residents and taxpayers <br /> <br />in the vicinity of Fourth and Van Ness Avenue against the <br />issuance of a city license to conduct a dance hall at Fourth <br />and Van Ness Avenue. <br /> <br />On recommendation of the. Police Commissioner and on motion of <br />Trustee Penn, seconded by Layton and carried, the applica- <br />tions of Miss Rhea 0. Manley and of Floyd Emmett for permits <br />to conduct the dance hall at Fourth and Van Ness Avenue, <br />were denied. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Layton and carried, <br />the application of Edwin Earl Parker for appointment as <br />special police officer without pay, was referred to the <br />Police Commissioner and Chief for recommendation. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Layton, <br />the report of W. T. Lambert, <br /> <br />seconded by Bruns and carried, <br />County Auditor, placing Santa <br /> <br />Ana~s valuation for the year 1935-!936 at $23,840,245.00, <br />was received and filed. <br /> <br /># <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Layton and carried, <br />the communication of C. Gordon Beisel submitting an outline <br />for a period of study to determine the effectiveness of ozone <br />application in the retention and eradication of hydrogen sul- <br />fide formers in the Joint 0utfall Sewer, was referred to the <br />City Engineer and Water Superintendent. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Layton, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br />the Mayor Pro Tem and Clerk were aut~horized to enter into an <br /> <br />agreement with Shipkey & Pearson Inc. relative to the con- <br /> at 1402 S. Main Street, <br />struction and erection of an electric sign/extending over <br /> <br />the five foot set-back llne on South Main Street. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br />the report of the Santa Ana Public Library Board for the <br />fiscal year ending June 30th, 1935, was referred to the <br />Finance Committee for checking. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of the Fire Commissioner and on motion of <br />Trustee Bruns, seconded by Layton and carried, the request of <br />B. J. LtacMullen for permission to erect a small canvas awning <br />on the Used Car lot located at ll0 N. L~in Street, was grante~ <br />for a period not to exceed thirty days. <br /> <br /> <br />
