Two petitions with eighty-two signatures attached were pre- sented requesting the repair of streets in Delhi before the start of the rainy season. On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Penn and carried, the petitions were referred to the Street Commissioner and City Engineer for checking as to cost and practicability of improving these streets and report back to the Council. # On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Layton and carried, the report of the Police Department for the month of July was referred to the Finance Committee for checking. # On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, the following Resolution entitled: "Resolution protesting discontinUance of financial aid to Street Improvement Districts in City by County of Orange was read, considered, designated Resolution No. 2532 and' passed by the following vote: Ayes, Trustees Plummet W. Bruns, W. N. Penn, Ernest N. Layton, ~oseph P. Smith. Noes, Trustees None. Absent, Trustees Fred C. Rowland. On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Layton and carried, the Clerk was instructed to submit a copy of Resolution No. 2532 to the Board of Supervisors of Orange County and to member $ity of the Orange County League of Municipalities. # On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, the following Ordinance entitled: #An Ordinance amending the Plumbing Code of the City of Santa Ana, as adopted by Ordinance No. S21 entitled 'An Ordinance providing for the appointment of a Plumbing Inspector, defining his duties and fixing his compensation; regulating the method of constructing plumbing work, house drainage, and gas fitting, providing for the inspection thereof and the issuance of permits therefor; and providin a penalty for the violation of said Ordinance'" was read, considered, designated Ordinance No. 1080 and passed by the followi~ vote: Ayes, Trustees Plummet W. Bruns, Joseph P. Smith, W. H. Penn, Ernest H. Layton. Tl-ustees None. Noe s, Absent, # Trustees Fred C. Rowland. On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, action for the final passage of Ordinance Fixing the Tax Rate for 1937-38 was postponed until the next meeting. On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, the sketch of the proposed float to be entered in the Santa Monica Admission Day Celebration parade, September 9th, was referred to the standing committee.
