Charles Nugent to solicit funds <br /> <br />the construction of a church to be located in Santa Ana Gar- <br />dens, was referred to the standing committee. <br /> <br />On motion of .Trustee Smith, seconded by Layton and carried, <br />the minutes of the Forestry Board for September 27th, 193@, <br />were received and filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Layton and carried, <br />the communication of Earl H. Brenner, Secretary of the Buena <br />Park Businessmen Assn., requesting information on the with- <br />drawal of Buena Park Sanitary District from the Joint 0utfall <br />Sewer, was referred to the City Attorney for disposition. <br /> <br />There being no written objections filed, on motion of Trustee <br />Penn, seconded by Smith and carried, the following Ordinance <br />entitled: <br /> <br /> "Ordinance granting to Southern California Edison Company, <br /> Ltd., its successors and assigns, a franchise to use, for <br /> transmitting and distributing electricity and electrical <br /> energy within the City of Santa Ana, for any and all pur- <br /> poses other than those authorized under Section 19 of <br /> Article XI of the Constitution of the State of California <br /> as said Section existed prior to its amendment on October <br /> 10, 1911, all poles, wires, conduits and appurtenances <br /> which are now or may hereafter be lawfully placed in the <br /> public streets, alleys, ways and places within said City <br /> and to construct and use in said public streets, alleys, <br /> ways and places all poles, wires, conduits and appurten- <br /> ances necessary or proper for said purposes." <br /> <br /> was introduced, read, considered and placed on file for <br /> second reading. <br /> <br /> . <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br /> the communications of. the J.C. Horton ~rniture Company and <br /> Rankin Dry Goods Company against the repeal of Ordinance No. <br /> 1055 which prohibits distribution of circulars, handbills, <br /> etc., were referred to the Council as a whole. <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Smith and carried, <br /> the applications of Electrical Contractors to hang electrical <br /> signs for Jacobs Pharmacy at 2204 N. Main Street and for Stan <br /> McPherrin at 515 N. Main Street, were granted upon approval <br /> of the Electrical Inspector and hung under his supervision. <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br /> the petition of Electrical Contractors and Journeymen for <br /> adoption of an Electrical Code compiled by them, together <br /> with the Electrical Code, was referred to a committee to be <br /> appointed by the Chair. Trustees Penn and Smith and Attornel <br /> Blodget were appointed as the committee. <br /> <br /> <br />
