James and others requesting installa- <br />tion of street lights on South Franklin Street, was referred <br />to the Street Commissioner and City Engineer with power to ac <br />. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br />the communication of the Santa Ana Realty Board requesting <br />postponement of final action of granting the Southern Cali- <br />fornia Edison Company franchise for two weeks, was read and <br />action on communication delayed. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />0Kmotionof Trustee Penn, seconded by Layton and carried, <br />the e~plication of Ernest L. Friend, pastor of the Pull Gospel <br />Assembly, for a permit to' operate a public address system on <br />car for strictly religious purposes, on Saturday between 2 <br />and 6 P.M..~tarting 0ctoher 22nd, was referred to the Police <br />Commissioner and Chief with power to act. <br /> <br /># <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Layton and carried, <br />the applications of Electrical Contractors to hang electrical <br /> <br />signs, were granted on recommendation of the Electrical Inspe <br /> his <br /> tot and to be hung under/supervision as follows: <br /> <br />Herbert Miller Tire Co. <br />Community Finance Co. <br />The Ice House <br />T. Main St. <br />9O2 E. 4th St. <br />502 W. 4th St. <br /> <br />seconded by Bruns and carried, <br /> <br />the Mayor and Clerk were instructed to sign an agreement with <br />The Ice House, R. C. Roper, to hang an electric sign at 1705 <br />N. Main Street, which will extend over the set-back line <br />established on Nm. Main Street. <br /> <br /># <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Layton, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br />the statement of the Southern California Telephone Compsny <br />stating gross receipts from October 13th, 1937 to October 12t'. <br />1938, arising from use and operation of the franchise granted <br />by Ordinance No. 965, was referred to the City Auditor for <br />checking and the Clerk was instructed to deposit warrant in <br />amount of $5331.~ covering franchise tax. <br /> <br /> <br />
