Council Chambers <br /> <br />Santa Ana City Hall. <br /> <br />June 20, 1938. 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />City Council met in regular session. <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by Mayor Rowland. <br /> <br />Present: Trustees Plummet W. Bruns, Joseph P. Smith, <br /> W. H. Penn, Ernest H. Layton, Fred C. Rowland. <br /> <br />Absent: Trustees None. <br /> <br />Each Trustee having received a copy of the Minutes, <br />further reading of the Minutes of June 6th, 1958, <br />was dispensed with and the Minutes were approved on <br />motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded Layton and carried. <br /> <br />In B~ <br /> <br />Application <br /> <br />D. R. Dickson. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Application <br /> <br />Julian Armfield. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Request of <br /> <br />R. R. Pullian. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Protest of <br /> <br />Ollie Kressin, <br /> <br />etal. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Request of <br /> <br />Veterans of Foreign Wars. <br /> <br />A written protest signed by Wm. A. Nelles and others against <br />the construction of a duplex or apartment building on Lowell <br />Street between Eighth and Tenth Streets was read. On motion <br />of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Layton and carried, the appli- <br />cation of D. R. Dickson for a permit to construct a duplex <br />~n the west side of Lowell Street between Eighth and Tenth <br />Street, was referred to the Planning Commission together <br />with the protest of Wm. A. Nelles and others. <br /> <br /> # <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br />the application of Julian Armfield for a per, nit to erect a <br />duplex on Pine Street between Cedar and Halladay Streets, <br />described,sLot 3, Block B, Benedict's Subdivision of the <br />Daniel Hallday Tract, was referred to the Planning Commissiol <br /> <br /># <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Layton, seconded by Penn and carried, <br />the application of R. R. Pulian and R. E. Highley for permis~ <br />sion to erect a tent 45'x65' on the southeast corner of <br />Walnut and~ycamore Street for the purpose of holding a Baptis <br />Revival Meeting for a period of thirty days beginning June <br />26th, was referred to the Police Commissioner, Chief of <br />Police, Fire Uhief and Sanitary Inspector with power to act. <br /> <br /># <br /> <br />A protest was read signed by Ollie Kressin and others request <br />ing the abatement of a nuisance in the 800 block East Fourth <br />Street, consisting of a grinding apparatus for crushing rock <br />and sand for sale to some glass company which causes noise <br /> <br />and dust. On motion of Trustee Penn, <br />carried, the protest was referred to <br />Police Commissioner. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Bruns, <br /> <br />the request of the Veterans <br /> <br />seconded by Layton and <br />the City Attorney and <br /> <br />seconded by Smith and carried, <br />of Foreign Wars to maintain <br /> <br />school crossing guards throughout the year and to employ War <br />Veterans wherever possible, was received, acknowledged and <br />referred to the Traffic Commission, Chief of Police and <br />Auditor. <br /> <br /> <br />
