Council Chambers <br /> <br />Santa Ana City Hall. <br /> <br />July 18th, 1938. 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br /> City Council met in regular session. <br /> <br /> Meeting called to order by Mayor Rowland. <br /> <br /> Present: Trustees Pl,,m~er W. Bruns, Joseph P. Smith, <br /> W. H. Penn, Ernest H. Layton, Fred C. Rowland. <br /> <br /> Absent: Trustees None. <br /> <br />Each member Of the City Council having received a copy <br />of the Minutes, further reading of the Minutes of July <br />§th, 1938, was dispensed With and the Minutes approved <br />on motion of Trustee Layton, seconded by Penn and carried. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Application <br /> <br />Mary Coleman Estate. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Application of <br /> <br />Orville & Florence Pulliam. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Transportation <br /> <br />for W.P.A. Smith. <br /> <br />There being no oral or written protests, on motion of Trustee <br />Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, the application of the <br /> <br />Mary Coleman Estate <br /> <br />3, Keese's Addition, <br /> <br /># <br /> <br />for special use to erect a duplex on Lot <br />was referred to the Planning Commission. <br /> <br /> Oral protests were heard and written protests of C. W. Hyde, <br /> Jr., Fred Vollmer and other were read against the application <br /> of Orville & Florence Pulllam to construct a building on Lots <br /> 13 and 15, Block 1, Tract 517 for a poultry slaughtering <br /> business. ~n motion of Trustee Bruno, seconded by Smith and <br /> carried, the application of Orville and Florence Pulliam was <br /> referred back to the Planning Commission for recommendation. <br /> <br />Roy J. Hicks of Costa Mesa appeared before the Council <br />requesting that the City of Santa Ana furnish transportation <br />for W.P.A. workers working on Section 1 of the Joint OutfAll <br />Sewer. On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Smith and <br />carried, the matter was referred to the Engineer McBride and <br />the Joint ~utfall Sewer Executive Committee. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Stuns, seconded by Layton and carried, <br />the application of Pulliam, Highley and Crawford,representlng <br />the Baptist Church, to erect a church at the southeast corner <br />of Sycamore and Walnut Streets, described as Lots 2 and 3, <br />Block 8, Palmer's Addition, was referred to the Planning <br />Commission. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br />the communication of Boy Scouts Rotary Troop #2A thanking the <br />Council for the courtesies shown them in the operation of <br />their fire works stands in the season of 1938, was received <br />and filed. <br /> <br /># <br /> <br />On me,ion of Trustee Layton, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br />the request of Fred E. Smith for permission to sell soft <br />drinks and ice cream at the City Employees' Picnic, profits <br />derived from sales to be used to buy equipment for the City <br /> <br /> <br />
