In Re <br /> <br />Petition--Street <br /> <br />Lights on Louise St. <br /> <br />In Re <br />Applications <br />for Variances. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Ordinance <br /> <br />Regulating Dance Halls. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Eelsey, seconded by Yost and carried, <br /> <br />the petition of property owners requesting the installation <br /> <br />of modern street lights on Louise Street between Eighth and <br /> <br />Seventeenth Street, was denied. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Bruns and oar~ied,the <br /> <br />five applications for variances were received and filed as <br /> <br />follows: <br /> <br /> H. T. Dunning concerning property at the northwest corner <br /> of Main and First Streets. <br />V. L. Motry and Myrtle L? Motry, construction of retail <br /> grocery store at the northeast corner of Flower and <br /> Edward L. Gorzeman, construction of m~dical building at <br /> the southwest corner of Seventeenth and Bush Streets. <br /> Robert.Gisler, construction of service station at the <br /> intersection of Mortimer, Sixth ~nd Fruit Streets. <br /> J. E. Hall, extension of radio and"television equipment <br /> s$ore at the southeast corner of Walnut and Oak Streets. <br /> <br /># <br /> <br />Mr. George Alsbach, Rev. <br />Mr. Hugh Gerrard and Mr. <br /> <br />C. E. Holman, Rev. C. D. Hicks, <br /> <br />T. D. Knights protested against the <br /> <br />adoption of the proposed dance hall ordinance which would <br />permit the sale of intoxicating 'liquors in certain dance hall <br />Trustee Bruns made a motion, seconded by Kelsey, to bring up <br />the Ordinance for consideration, entitled as follows: <br /> <br /> "An Ordinance to regulate public dance halls and public <br /> dances, and defining conditions whereby dancing may be <br /> permitted on premises where intoxicating liquors are <br /> sold, in the City of Santa An a". <br /> <br />The Ordinance was lost by the following vote: <br /> Ayes, Trustees None. <br /> <br /> Noes, Trustees Plummet W. Bruns, Joseph P. Smith, <br /> E. D. Yost, D. W. Kelsey, Fred C. Rowland. <br /> <br /> Absent, Trustees None. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Kelsey, seconded by Yost and carried, <br />the City Council adjourned to Tuesday, September 5th, 1939, <br />at 7:30 P.M., in the Council Chambers. <br /> <br />APPROVED: <br /> <br /> Mayor of the~City of Santa Aha. <br /> <br />B <br /> <br />Deputy. <br /> <br /> <br />
