<br />of the Minutes of February 16th, 1948, further reading
<br />of the Minutes was dispensed with and approved on motion
<br />of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Chandler and carried.

<br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried, the
<br />Minutes of the Executive Board of the Joint Outfall Sewer meeting
<br />held at Anaheim, February 4th, 1948, were received and filed.
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried, the
<br />copy of communication from the State Dept. of Public Health to
<br />the Board of Supervisors, was received and filed, with reference
<br />to calling meeting in Santa Ana on March llth, at lO:O0 A.M. to
<br />
<br />discuss sewage disposal.

<br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Heed and carried, the
<br />copy of letter from the State Division of Highways with reference
<br />to maintenance of trees in the City, was received and filed.
<br />
<br />On recommendation of the City Engineer and on motion of Trustee
<br />Cheney, seconded by Chandler and carried, the bond of Sully-Miller
<br />Company covering the improvement of N. Bristol Street between
<br />Seventeenth and Garden Grove Blvd., was ordered released as the
<br />work has been completed.
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, the
<br />communication of Northey du Maurier inclosing copy of letter sent
<br />to the Santa Ana Register, with reference to holding auction sales
<br />was received and filed. The Mayor appointed a committee composed
<br />of Trustees Mandy, Seed, City Clerk and City Attorney to investi-
<br />gate public opinion on the merits of holding auctions.
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Heed and carried, the com-
<br />munication of the Santa Ana Furniture Co. expressing opinion
<br />against any change in the present Ordinance regarding auctions,
<br />was received and filed.

<br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and carried, the
<br />
<br />recommendations of the
<br />R. G. Nieblas and W. F.
<br />
<br />Civil Service Board.
<br />
<br />Chief of Police for permanent appointments
<br />Nielsen, were approved subject to the
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried,
<br />the resignation of Robert D. Campbell as draftsman in the Plannin
<br />and Park Depts., was received, filed and accepted with regrets.
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Chandler and carried,
<br />the request of Milford B. Dreblow for a leave of absence from his
<br />duties as instrument man, for three weeks beginning April 6th,
<br />19A8, was granted subject to aoproval of Civil Service Board.
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried,
<br />the recommendation of the Building Inspector for permanent appoint
<br />merit of Robert N. Finfrock, was approved subject to the Civil
<br />Service Board.
