<br />following Resolution entitled:
<br />
<br />"A Resolution of the City Council of the City of
<br />Santa Ana determining and declaring that weeds
<br />which bear seeds of a wingy or downy nature and
<br />attain such a large growth as to become a fire
<br />menace when dry, and which are noxious and
<br />dangerous, are growing upon certain streets,
<br />sidewalks, and private property in said City of
<br />Santa Ana, and are a public nuisance: Directing
<br />the Street Superintendent to post notices to
<br />destroy said weeds as required by law: fixing the
<br />time for hearing objections and protests, and
<br />directing the abatement thereof in accordance
<br />with an act of the Legislature of the State of
<br />~alifornia entitled, "An act authorizing
<br />municipalities to declare noxious or dangerous
<br />weeds growing upon the streets or sidewalks or
<br />upon private property within municipalities to
<br />be a public nuisance, creating a lien upon the
<br />property fronting upon such streets or sidewalks,
<br />or upon which such nuisance exists for the cost
<br />of abating the same, approved May 26, 1915", and
<br />amendments thereto"

<br />was read, considered, designated Resolution No. 3649 and passed
<br />
<br />by the following vote:

<br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Reed and carried,

<br />property was ordered posted after March 19th, 1948 and hearing
<br />
<br />date for protests set as of April 5th, 1948.
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, secondsd by Reed and carried, twelve
<br />petitions signed by approximately 1059 representative citizens of
<br />
<br />Santa Ana, emphasizing the importance of keeping the power of
<br />
<br />appointing the heads of the various departments of the City in
<br />the hands of the City Council, as provided for in Section 17 of
<br />
<br />the Civil Service Ordinance, were received and filed.
