Carson Smith. <br /> <br />Noes, Trustees None <br /> <br />Absent, Trustees None <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Mandy and carried, the <br /> <br />following Resolution entitled: <br /> <br />"A Resolution of the City Council of the City of <br />Santa Ana determining and declaring that weeds <br />which bear seeds of a wingy or downy nature and <br />attain such a large growth as to become a fire <br />menace when dry, and which are noxious and <br />dangerous, are growing upon certain streets, <br />sidewalks, and private property in said City of <br />Santa Ana, and are a public nuisance: Directing <br />the Street Superintendent to post notices to <br />destroy said weeds as required by law: fixing the <br />time for hearing objections and protests, and <br />directing the abatement thereof in accordance <br />with an act of the Legislature of the State of <br />~alifornia entitled, "An act authorizing <br />municipalities to declare noxious or dangerous <br />weeds growing upon the streets or sidewalks or <br />upon private property within municipalities to <br />be a public nuisance, creating a lien upon the <br />property fronting upon such streets or sidewalks, <br />or upon which such nuisance exists for the cost <br />of abating the same, approved May 26, 1915", and <br />amendments thereto" <br /> <br />was read, considered, designated Resolution No. 3649 and passed <br /> <br />by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes, <br /> <br />Trustees W.J.Cheney, Courtney R. Chandler, <br /> Allen A. Mandy, Virgil H. Reed, <br /> R. Carson Smith. <br /> <br />Noes, Trustees None <br /> <br />Absent, Trustees None <br /> <br />On recommendation of the committee, <br /> <br />and on motion of Trustee <br /> <br />Chancy, seconded by Chandler and carried, the following Resolutiol <br /> <br />entitled: <br /> <br />"Resolution Concerning Parking Limitations <br /> Under Ordinance No. 1030" <br /> <br />establishing bus stops on South Main St., French St., North <br /> <br />Broadway, West Fourth Street, North Flower Street, South Patton <br /> <br />Street and West Third Street, was read, considered, designated <br /> <br />ResolutiOn No. 3650 and passed by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes, Trustees <br /> <br />W.J. Cheney, Courtney R. Chandler, <br />Allen A. Mandy, Virgil H. Reed, <br />R. Carson Smith. <br /> <br />Noes, Trustees None <br /> <br /> Absent, Trustees None <br />An application was read from Emil <br /> <br />P. Berta, Raymond J. Hulbert <br /> <br />and Isadore DeBernardi requesting per~ission to establish an <br /> <br />amusement center in the 2100 block South Main Street. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Reed and carried, <br /> <br />property was ordered posted after March 19th, 1948 and hearing <br /> <br />date for protests set as of April 5th, 1948. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, secondsd by Reed and carried, twelve <br />petitions signed by approximately 1059 representative citizens of <br /> <br />Santa Ana, emphasizing the importance of keeping the power of <br /> <br />appointing the heads of the various departments of the City in <br />the hands of the City Council, as provided for in Section 17 of <br /> <br />the Civil Service Ordinance, were received and filed. <br /> <br /> <br />
