<br /> On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and carried,
<br /> communication from L. CoRogers, retired Police Officer, expressing
<br /> ,h, is thanks for letter from Council, was received and filed.

<br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried,
<br />communication from Metropolitan Water District advising that the
<br />component of the selling price of Colorado River water represent-
<br />ing the cost of treatment will be increased from rate of $?.00 per
<br />acre foot to $10.00 per acre foot, and the rate for softened
<br />Colorado River water delivered to constituent areas of the
<br />will be $18.00 per acre foot, effective July 1st, 1948, was
<br />received and filed.

<br />On motion of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Chandler and carried,
<br />communication from Commander, Veterans of Foreign Wars, clarifying
<br />their stand on civil service appointments, was received and filed.
<br />Communication f-rom Health Officer Orange County, together with
<br />
<br />6opy' of Resolution passed by the State Board of Health, June 18th,
<br />and reply of Mayor R. Carson Smith,
<br />1948,/were read~elative to report on a pollution survey of Orange
<br />
<br />County beaches, and on mot.ion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy
<br />and carried, communications and Resolution were received and filed.
<br />Communication from Charles A. Sweet, Temporary Secretary, together
<br />with copy of Minutes of Joint Meeting of Bo~ d of Directors,
<br />
<br />County Sanitation Districts, June 24th, 1~8, were read and on
<br />motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, commun~
<br />and copy of Minutes were received and filed.

<br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and carried,
<br />military leaves of absence were granted, with pay, to R.L.Elliott,
<br />Police Officer and Daniel G. Harris, Hoseman, Fire Department,
<br />August 1st to August 15th, l~AS, for the purpose of attending
<br />National Guard Camp.
<br />
<br />Communication was read from Secy. Planning Commission that con-
<br />sideration be given to matter of future development of the M-1
<br />District lying between the Southern Pacific Company tracks and
<br />Dyer Road.
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, committee
<br />be appointed to investigate and report back to the Council.
<br />
<br />Mayor appointed Trustee Cheney and Engineer on this committee.
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Reed and carried,
<br />notifications of the State Board of Equalization of alcoholic
<br />beverage applications made by James P. Poulos, 312 Bush St.,
