In Re Solicitation State Blind Shop In Re Reappointment Alex Brownridge Library Board Lu Re Award of bid Improve. Nc.Bristol from ~rd to 8th Sts. In Re Appointment Fire Chief Communication was read from Gen. Mgr. Business Ments Association relative to request of State Blind Shop for permission to solicit in Santa Aha, and on motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, matter was tabled for two weeks for further study. . On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, Alex Brownridge was reappointed as a member of the Library Board; term to expire June ~Oth, 1981. On recommendation of the committee, and on motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, the bid of Sully-Miller Contracting Company, in the amount of $13,998.8~, was accepted covering improvement of North Bristol Street from Third to Fifth Streets. Trustee Mandy recommended the appointment of J.J.Hanson as Fire Chief due to his service, qualifications and war record and moved that such appointment be made which w~s duly seconded by Trustee Reed. On roll call, Roll Call the motion was lost by the following vote: Ayes Trustees Allen A. Mandy, Virgil H. Reed. Noes Trustees Absent Trustees Truatee Cheney stated that John J. W.J.Cheney, Courtney R. Chandle: R. Carson Smith. None Garthe placed the highest in the civil service examination and had been Assistant Fire Chief for eleven years, which in his opinion entitled Mr. Garthe to the position. On motion of Trustee Re~d, seconded by Cheney and carried, John J. Garthe was appointed Fire Chief by the following vote: Ayes, Trustees W.J.Cheney, Courtney R. Chandler, Virgil H. Heed, R. Carson Smith. Not Voting, Trustees Allen A. Mandy Absent, Trustees None On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and carried, the City Council adjourned to Monday, July 12th, 1948, at 4:~0 P.M. Absent: Trustees None In Re Award of Bid Chlorination Equipment Joint Outfall Sewer On recommendation of Engineer, Joint Outfall Sewer, and on motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried, the bid of Wallace & Tiernan Co. Inc. was accepted covering the furnishing, delivering and supervising installation of Chlorination Equipment in a concrete building, at the Joint Outfall Sewer, for a total lump sum price, exclmsive of Sales Tax or Use Tax of $17,627.00, and services of Supervising Engineer for the perldiem price of ~25.00 per diem.
