Council Chamber Santa Ana City Hall September 20th, 1948. 7:30 P.M. City Council met in regular session. Meeting called to o~der by ~ayor Smith. Present~ TrusSeel W.J. Cheney~ Courtney~R. Chandler, Allen A.~Mandy, Virgil H. Reed,. R. Carson Smith. Absent: Trustees None Each member of the City Council having received copies of the Minutes of September 7th, 194S, further reading of the Minutes was dispensed with and approved on motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried. In Re On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, Bids Painting water tank the Clerk was authorized to open bids for the painting of the elevated water tank near Fourteenth and Poinsettia Streets, as follows: Bid of C. Gaytan, in the amount of $3,972.00. Bond in the amount of 10% of amount bid accompanied bid. Bid of Go C. Hewitt & Co. Ltd., in the amount of $5,672.00. in the ~nount of $570.00 accompanied bid. Bond Bid of Hammes Decorating Co., in the amount of $2,200.00. in the amount of $220.00 accompanied bid. Bond Bid of Harry Crawford, in the amount of $2,480.00. check in the amount of $248.00 accompanied bid. Certified On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and carried, bids were referred to Enginegr and Auditor for checking and In Re Communioation Paul Gustlin recommendation. Communication was read from Paul Gustlin suggesting that City purchase concession building in Santiago Park for $2500.00 and on motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Cheney and carried, comm- unicatlon was referred to Park Commissioner for investigation and In Re Communication Dept. ~ublic Health (Contamination surf waters) recommendation. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, communication from State Department of Public Health reference reduction of contamination of surf waters as indicated by results of sampling in vicinity of Orange County 0utfall Sewer, was In Re Employees Assoc. Convention received and filed. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, request of V.E.Downs, William Nielsen and Voris Robison for leave of absen. with pay and expense money in order to attend Joint convention of California League of City Employees Association and League of In Re Establish policy reference Conventions County Employees Association, to be held at Bakersfield, Oct. l§th and 16th, 1948, was denied. On motion of ~Trustee Mandy, seconded by Cheney and carried, ChatEnan was authorized to appoint a committee to establish a poli, of sending City employees to Conventions. Chairman appointed Personal Officer, Clerk, Trustee Reed, as Chairman and Trustees In He Communication Chamber of Commerce Designating one-way streets Chandler and Chene~y on this committee. On motion of T~ustee Mandy, seconded by Cheney and carried, communication from Chamber of Commerce recommending that Sycamore Strect be designated a one-way street for south bound traffic between 1st and 10th and that Bush Street be designated a one-way street for north bound traffic between 1st and 10th Streets, was received and filed until further study of the matter can be made.
