Council Chamber <br />Santa Ana City Hall <br />September 20th, 1948. <br /> <br />7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />City Council met in regular session. <br />Meeting called to o~der by ~ayor Smith. <br /> <br />Present~ TrusSeel W.J. Cheney~ Courtney~R. Chandler, <br /> Allen A.~Mandy, Virgil H. Reed,. <br /> R. Carson Smith. <br />Absent: Trustees None <br /> <br />Each member of the City Council having received copies <br />of the Minutes of September 7th, 194S, further reading <br />of the Minutes was dispensed with and approved on motion <br />of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried. <br /> <br />In Re On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, <br />Bids <br />Painting water <br />tank <br /> <br /> the <br />Clerk was authorized to open bids for the painting of the elevated <br />water tank near Fourteenth and Poinsettia Streets, as follows: <br /> <br />Bid of C. Gaytan, in the amount of $3,972.00. Bond in the amount <br />of 10% of amount bid accompanied bid. <br /> <br />Bid of Go C. Hewitt & Co. Ltd., in the amount of $5,672.00. <br />in the ~nount of $570.00 accompanied bid. <br /> <br />Bond <br /> <br />Bid of Hammes Decorating Co., in the amount of $2,200.00. <br />in the amount of $220.00 accompanied bid. <br /> <br />Bond <br /> <br />Bid of Harry Crawford, in the amount of $2,480.00. <br />check in the amount of $248.00 accompanied bid. <br /> <br />Certified <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and carried, <br /> <br />bids were referred to Enginegr and Auditor for checking and <br /> <br />In Re <br />Communioation <br />Paul Gustlin <br /> <br />recommendation. <br /> <br />Communication was read from Paul <br /> <br />Gustlin suggesting that City <br /> <br />purchase concession building in Santiago Park for $2500.00 and on <br /> <br />motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Cheney and carried, comm- <br /> <br />unicatlon was referred to Park Commissioner for investigation and <br /> <br />In Re <br />Communication <br />Dept. ~ublic Health <br />(Contamination surf <br />waters) <br /> <br />recommendation. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, <br />communication from State Department of Public Health reference <br />reduction of contamination of surf waters as indicated by results <br /> <br />of sampling in vicinity of Orange County 0utfall Sewer, was <br /> <br />In Re <br />Employees Assoc. <br />Convention <br /> <br />received and filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Reed, <br /> <br />seconded by Mandy and carried, request <br /> <br />of V.E.Downs, William Nielsen and Voris Robison for leave of absen. <br /> <br />with pay and expense money in order to attend Joint convention of <br /> <br />California League of City Employees Association and League of <br /> <br />In Re <br />Establish policy <br />reference <br />Conventions <br /> <br />County Employees Association, to be held at Bakersfield, Oct. l§th <br />and 16th, 1948, was denied. <br /> <br />On motion of ~Trustee Mandy, seconded by Cheney and carried, <br />ChatEnan was authorized to appoint a committee to establish a poli, <br />of sending City employees to Conventions. Chairman appointed <br />Personal Officer, Clerk, Trustee Reed, as Chairman and Trustees <br /> <br />In He <br />Communication <br />Chamber of Commerce <br />Designating one-way <br />streets <br /> <br />Chandler and Chene~y on this committee. <br /> <br />On motion of T~ustee Mandy, seconded by Cheney and carried, <br />communication from Chamber of Commerce recommending that Sycamore <br />Strect be designated a one-way street for south bound traffic <br /> <br />between 1st and 10th and that Bush Street be designated a one-way <br />street for north bound traffic between 1st and 10th Streets, was <br />received and filed until further study of the matter can be made. <br /> <br /> <br />
