On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Martin and carried, communication from Public Utilities Commission, together with Schedule of Apportionment of Cost between the four major steam railroads, operating in California, and the Department of Public Works, Division of Highways, applicable to the construction, improvement, protection and maintenance of grade crossings on the State Highway system, were received and filed. # On recommendation of the O~ty Engineer and on motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, the City Treasurer was authorized to withdraw $100,QOO.O0 of bond issue money now invest- ed in Government Bonds and deposit said amount in the Storm Sewer Fund. Communication was read from O~ity Engineer advising that improve- ments on Eleventh, Twelfth Streets and Pacific Avenue, within the boundar~ies of Tract No. 1i$6 have been satisfactorily completed, and on motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Reed and carried, bond submitted by Land Improvement, Inc., in the amount of $24,000.00, was ordered released. T~ustee Cheney arrived in the Council Chamber at 2:30 P.M. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, the recommendation of the City Engineer was approved that City accept the money for resurfacing of trenches in Assessment District No. 195 from the contractor and the City perform the work of resur- facing the streets. . Communication was read from City Engineer advising that bill for the installation of water service at Washington School, which was rendered to the School Board on Sept. 7, 1949, has not yet been paid and' suggesting that either the water be shut off and meter removed or that City Attorney file suit to collect the lnstallatior charges of $365.61. On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, the matter was referred to the City Attorney with instructions to check on the legality of the City turning off the water and to report back at the next meeting. # On motion of ~rustee Martin, seconded by Reed and carried, the recommendation of the City Engineer was approved and Mayor instructed to sign escrow instructions for the acceptance from George D. Gregg of a 25 foot right-of-way across his property iocated west of Bristol and South of First Street, being Pacific Street extended and Myrtle Street extended, for the sum of $2000.00. . On motion of Trustee Martin, seconded by Cheney and carried, Trustee Heed was appointed as auctioneer of surplus City property to be auctioned at the Community Center ~t 10:00 A.M. August 31st, ~95o.
