Allison <br />Varian ce <br /> <br />In Re <br />Communication <br />Le~glue of Calif. <br />Cities <br /> <br />Bid of Bekins Van and Storage~Company, in the amount of $31,500.06 <br />for purchase of the 5.51 acre tract. <br /> ~ere <br />The Chairman asked for oral bids from the floor and none_/received <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Reed and carried, the <br /> <br />bid of Bekins Van and Storage Company, in the amount of $31,500.0( <br /> <br />was accepted and City Attorney instructed to prepare R~solution <br /> <br />Executing Deed.. <br /> <br />Opinion No. 94 of 'the City Attorney was read, reference McNeal <br />Variance procedure, and on motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by <br />Martin and carrie6, opinion was received and filed. <br /> <br />On motion <br /> <br />following <br /> <br />of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, the <br />Resolution entitled: <br /> <br />"A Resolution approving plans and specifications <br />for a digester unit to be a part of the Joint <br />Outfall Sewer Treatment Plant and directing the <br />City Clerk to advertise for bids for the con- <br />struction of such digester" <br /> <br />was read, <br /> <br />by the following ~ote: <br /> <br />considered, designated Resolution No. 3930 and passed <br /> <br /> Ayes, Trustees Courtney R. Chandler, John W. Martin Jr., <br /> Virgil H. Reed, Allen A. Mandy. <br /> Noes, Trustees None <br /> Absent, Trustees W.J.Cheney <br /> . <br />Mrs. B.C.Clark, spokesman for Anti-smudge Committee appeared <br />before the Council an~ read prepared statement requesting inform- <br />ation on action taken reference adoption of an Ordinance to <br />eliminate the smudge nuisance and repeated the statement that <br />committee members wish to place the smudge issue on the November <br />7th, 1950 ballot if Council and the Board of Supervisors do not <br />make an effort to e~ontrol such nuisance. Chairman advised Mrs. <br />Clark that Council will meet with Board of Supervisors in an <br />effort to control the smudge situation and that committee members <br />will be advised of time and place of such meeting. <br /> <br />Request was read from Santa Aha Junior Chamber of Commerce for <br />use of Bowl, without rental charge, on June 16th and permission t¢ <br />conduct a one-half hour television broadcast. On recommendation <br />of the Park Superintendent and on motion of Trustee Chandler, <br />seconded by Martin and carried, request was granted for use Of <br />Bowl, without charge but all expenses incurred such as fire and <br />police protection, use of lights and clean-up work to be paid by <br />the organization and permission be given, in writing,to conduct <br />the television broadcast. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Reed and carried, Map <br />of Tract No. 1377 was approved covering extensions to Lowell, <br />Towner and half of Borohard Streets; bond in the amount of <br /> <br />$18,.000.00 accepted and proper authorities authorized to sign map. <br />,, <br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Martin and carried, <br />the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and <br />variance~ granted to Clara S. Allison to permit a real estate offic <br />at 408 So. Broadway, subject to certain conditions. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Martin and carried, <br />communication from Leag~Ae of California Cities commending <br /> <br /> <br />
