James Wa3.ker, <br />counsel for the petitioners stated it was in order to proceed to <br />take evidence in support of petitions and requested that witnessee <br />be sworn in. The Clerk read Minutes of City Council meetings <br />held April 3rd, 1950 and April l?th, 1950, reference rent decontro <br />On motion of Trustee Cheney,-seconded by Chandler and carried, <br />affidavit of publication of hearing wac filed as Exhibit 1. <br />A.G.Eldmed, real eetate operator, gave testimony on a survey made <br />by members of the Realty Board during the latter part of February <br />and the early part of March which showed an approximate 4 per cent <br />vacancy factor of-the estimated 1485 rental units in the City. <br /> <br />The witness stated the realtors checked every twenty-fifth listing <br />in the City Directory, or 531 unite, and found 20 vacant and avail- <br />able for rent. On motion-of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler <br />and carried, carde used for survey by realtors were filed as <br />Exhibit 2. Gregg H. Watson, Los Angeles Deputy Area Rent Director <br />stated the Santa Aha office made a survey of rental units Narchl4th <br />to 19th on instructions from the Federal Housing Expediter and <br />found a vacancy factor of approximately 4.1 per cent. On motion <br />of T~ustee Oheney; seconded by Chandler and carried, survey and <br />recapitulation of original data, as ~arnished' by Area Rent Director <br />was filed. On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and <br />carried, tabulation of new building permits issued by the Building <br />Department since the first cf the year was filed ae Exhibit 3. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried, Bulletin <br />dated Feb. 10th, 1950 showing result of investigation made by the <br />Board of Realtors, with reference to effect of decontrol, was filed <br /> <br /> <br />
