None None Noes, Trustees Absent, Trustees # On motion cf T~Astee Ch-ndler, seconded by Martin and carried, the Mayor was authorized to sign escrow instructions between the City and Bekina Van and Btorage Company covering 5.51 acres of property owned by the City and located at North Main Street and Santa Aha Boulevard. # On motion of Trustee Martin, seconded by 0honey and carried, agree- ment between 0ity and Dlehl and 0ompany,publiC certified account- ants, was tabled until next meeting. # On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried, request cf ErmaKeeler, City Clerk, for permission to leave the state for the period Hay 6th to 8th inclusive, was granted. This being the date set for hearing on rent decontrol, the Olerk read Notice of Publication setting such hearing. James Wa3.ker, counsel for the petitioners stated it was in order to proceed to take evidence in support of petitions and requested that witnessee be sworn in. A.G.Eldmed, real eetate operator, gave testimony on a survey made by members of the Realty Board during the latter part of February and the early part of March which showed an approximate 4 per cent vacancy factor of-the estimated 1485 rental units in the City. The witness stated the realtors checked every twenty-fifth listing in the City Directory, or 531 unite, and found 20 vacant and avail- able for rent. On motion-of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, carde used for survey by realtors were filed as Exhibit 2. Gregg H. Watson, Los Angeles Deputy Area Rent Director stated the Santa Aha office made a survey of rental units Narchl4th to 19th on instructions from the Federal Housing Expediter and found a vacancy factor of approximately 4.1 per cent.
