The foregoing prevailing wage schedules are based upon a working day of eight (8) hours, and in the event tt~t laborers, workmen or mechanics are employed les~ than eight (8) hours per day, the r ate of per diem wages shall be deemed to be that fraction of the foregoing rates that the number of hours of employment bears to eight (8)e Bidder's attention is called to the above mentioned Statute which will require them, if awarded the contract, to pay not less than said general per diem rate of wages set forth in said resolution hereinbefore mentioned, to all laborers, worlauen, and mechanics employed in the execution of the proposed contract. In accordance with the provisions of Section 1V~.5 of the Labor Code~ apprentices of any of the above crafts may be employed, provided they are properly indentured to the contractor in full compliance with Sections SOV0 to S091, both inclusive, of the Labor Code. Such apprentices shall be paid in accordance with the provisions of said Section 1V~.~. The bidder must submit with his proposal a satisfactory check certified by a responsible bank and payable t o the order of the City of Santa Ana, or a bidder's bond for an amount not less thau ten (10) per cent of the aggregate sum of the bid, as a guarantee that th~ bidder will enter into the proposed contract if the same is awarded to him, and iu event of failure to enter into such contract said check or bond shall become the property of the City. The ~no~t of the bond to be given to secure a fait~hful performance of the contract for said work shall be twenty-five (~) per cent of the contract price thereof, and au additional bond in an amount equal to fifty (80) per cent of the contract price for said work shall be given to secure the payment of claims for any materials or supplies furnished for the performance of the work contracte8 to be done by the Contractor, or any work or labor of any kind done thereon and the Contractor will also be required to fu~ish a certificate that he carries compensation insurance ¢ove~ing his employees upon work to be done under contract which may be entered into between him and the said City for the construction of said work.
