RESOLUTION NO..~,t <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ~ADE PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 80~, <br />STATUTE8 OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA 1943 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana is located close to the <br />Pacific Ocean, and there were and are situated in the immediate <br />vicinity Army, Navy and Marine Bases and Stations, and there were <br />and are many defense industries and activities also located in the <br />immediate vicinity of said City; and <br /> <br /> ~EREAS, commencing on the 7th day of December, 1941, there <br />became an immediate need for the protection of the people of said <br />City and of the activities located in its vicinity and of shipping <br />along the Pacific 0cast and the vicinity from enemy activity; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, for the purpose of said protection, the City <br />Trustees of the City of Santa Aha, in the name of the City of Santa <br />Aha and for the benefit of said people and said activities in said <br />vicinity and in the interests of the State of California in general, <br />commencing with the ?th day of December, 1941, and prior to June l, <br />1943, did spend and cause to be spent the sum of $33,1~6.5~ in the <br />purchase of warning signals, in the equipping of a civilian defense <br />control center, in paying salaries for supervision and clerical <br />assistance, in guarding vital utilitle~and for the purchasing of <br />other necessary equipment and supplies incident to the setting up of <br />an adequate civilian defense organization; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, during the month commencing June l, 1943, the said <br />City Trustees of the City of Santa Ana has approved and there has been <br />spent for civilian defense herein described the sum of $1,11S.42; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the said City Trustees of the City of Santa Aha <br />'have approved and budgeted for the fiscal year commencing July l, 1943, <br />and ending June 30, 19~j4, the further amount of $15,000.00 for the <br />same purposes; and <br /> <br /> <br />
