RESO .U ION NO. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />CALLING A SPECIAL E~CTION TO SUBMIT TO A VOTE OF THE <br />ELECTORS OF SAID CITY AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT <br />BETw~:~:N TH~ CITY COUNCIL OF SAID CITY OF SANTA ANA AN~ <br />THE BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION, CATJIFORNIA STATE EMPLOYS <br />RETIREMENT SYSTEM, PROV~DING FOR THE PARTICIPATION 0F <br />SAID SUBDIVISION IN SAID STATE EMPLOYES RETIR~ENT SYS~ <br />TEN MAKING IT~ EMPLOYEES MEMBERS OF SAID SYSTEM. <br /> <br />THE COUNCIL OF T~E CITY OF SANTA ANA DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, proceedings have been inaugurated for the partiCi- <br />pation of the employees of the City of Santa Aha in the State Employ- <br />ees Retirement System, pursuant to the provisions of the State Employ- <br />ees Retirement Act, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is necessary that an ordinance be adopted author- <br />izing the execution of the contract between the City Council and the <br />Board of Administration, California State Employees Retirement System, <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, an election has been conducted in such manner as to <br />permit the firemen, the policemen, and the other city employees to <br />separately express their approval or disapproval of the entering into <br />of such a contract, and in such election, each of said g~oups have, <br />by majority vote, expressed their approval thereof; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to submit such <br />ordinance directly to the electorate of the City; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: <br /> <br /> Section 1: That a special election shallLbe held in the City <br />of Santa Aha on the 5th day of November, 1946, for the purpose of ~b- <br />mitting to t he electors of said City of Santa Ana the proposition of <br />the adoption of an ordinance providing that the employees of the 0ity <br />of Santa Aha participate in the State Employees Retirement System pur- <br />suant to the provisions of the State Employees Retirement Act, which <br />ordinance is hereunto annexed and marked Exhibit "A" and by such ref- <br />erence made a part hereof as though herein set out in full, and which <br />ordinance is entitled: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING <br /> A CONTRACT B~TWEEN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SANTA ANA AND THE BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION, CALIFORNIA <br /> STATE EMPLOYS RETIREmeNT SYSTEM, PROVIDING FOR THE <br /> PARTICIPATION OF SAID SUBDIVISION IN SAID STATE <br /> PLOYEES RETIREMENT SYSTEM AND MAKING ITS EMPLOYEES <br /> ~E~ERS OF SAID SYSTEM." <br /> <br /> Section 2: That the City Council of the City of Santa Aha does <br />elect and does hereby authorize the Board of Supervisers of the County <br />of Orange, to consolidate this said special election with the general <br />elections of November 5, 1946, m~d further authorizes the said Board of <br />Supervisors to form the precincts within the City of Santa Aha for such <br />election, to fix the polling places, to appoint the precinct boards, and <br />to provide for t he expenses of said election. <br /> <br /> Section 3: That the said Council of the City of Santa Aha does <br />authorize the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange to canvass <br />the returns of said special election. <br /> <br />Section A: That the said special election voting precincts~ <br /> <br /> <br />
