BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that should the petition to dis- <br />continue railway passenger service be granted, thet the right <br />to maintain said lines in, on and across Fourth Street in the <br />City of Santa Aha for the movement of freight, be discontinued, <br />for the reason that said lines now occupy a large portion of <br />Fourth Street, which is a major business street in the City of <br />Santa Aha, and said lines, without the present passenger ser- <br />vice, would be of little or no value tQ~he community as a whole <br />but would continue to be a traffic haz~ard and interference <br />with the free and orderly movement of vehicular traffic, and a <br />detriment to the heart of the Santa Aha metropolitan area, and <br />that their in place use is desirable on this major street only <br />because of the passenger service rendered by bhem; and <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTPIER RESOLVED,~ that the City Council of the City <br />of Santa Aha believes and states that improved passenger service, <br />more expeditious schedules and modern equipment would greatly <br />increase the passenger traffic upon said line between the City <br />of Santa Ana and the City of Los Angeles and from the inter- <br />mediate stations in each direction.
