130 <br /> <br />Ordinance No.602. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance of the 0ity of Santa Ana,Oalifornia, Pertaining <br /> <br />to the regulation of the operating cf vehicles for Hire upon the <br />streets of said 0ity and providing for a liability insurance and <br />fixing the amount thereof, and providing for a permit and ~he revo- <br />cation thereof and defining ~ehiclss for hire, and making the vio- <br />lations of any of the provisions of this Ordinance a Misdemeanor, <br />and fixing a penalty for the enforcement thereof and repealing all <br />Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict therewith and provid- <br />ing for the cancellation of licenses already issued and renewal <br />thereof. <br /> <br /> The Board of Trustees of the 0ity of Santa Ana, do ordain <br /> <br />as follows:- <br /> Section 1. Unless it appears from the context that a different <br /> meaning is intended, the following words shall have the meaning <br /> attached to them by this Section : The word "Street" shall mean <br /> and include any street, avenue, alley, court, lane or other public <br /> place in the City of Santa Ans. <br /> <br /> The words "Auto car" shall mean and include any motor vehicle <br />engaged in the business of carrying passengers for hire which is <br />held out or announced by sign, voice or other device or advertisement <br />to operate or run or which is operated or run over any street in the <br />City of Santa Ana/provided that "auto cars" <br />sight seeing cars shall notbe considered~auto cars" within the mean- <br />ing of this 0rdinance~ <br /> The words #sight seeing cars" shall be deemed under this Ordi- <br />nance to be cars not used in the common carrier business (not used <br />to carry persons for hire from their homes or other places to <br />places d~n town or from down town places back to their homes) by <br />carrying persons for or without compensation to and from places of <br />interest in and about the City of Santa Aha, or the country adjacent <br />thereto. <br /> <br /> Section 2. Whenever the words #Auto car" is used in this <br />Ordinance it shall be considered as meaning any automobile, auto bus <br />or motor bus for hire as the case may be, such as are in this 0rdi- <br />nance sought to be regulated. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is hereby declared to be unlawful for any per- <br />son, firm or corporation to carry on the business of operating an <br />auto car in the City of Santa Ana, without first having procured <br />liability insurance in a reliable insurance company., the same to be <br />approved by the Board of Trustees of the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> Section 4. The liability insurance for each auto car <br /> <br />carrying passengers as in this Ordinance specified shall be for <br />standard limits of $§000.00 and $10,000, the policy designated <br />shall be declared to be a standard limit of $5000.00 for any per- <br />son injured and the total limit of $10,000 for any number of per- <br />sons injured in any one accident.
