EXHIBIT A <br />PROGRAM NARRATIVE <br />Option 2 of 2 Staff Training and Client Workshops <br />HR Management Services proposes to provide its proven, effective Put A Dot.com in Your Job <br />Search® (PADC) short-term, pre -vocational Internet job search workshops to Santa Ana <br />W/O/R/K Center staff and clients. PADC is a comprehensive, "hands-on," instructor -led <br />workshop that turns One -Stop staff and their clients into self -directed Internet job search experts, <br />and does not duplicate services currently offered. HRMS Certified Instructors will teach these <br />18-hour workshops monthly to clients. Each workshop can accommodate up to 15 students. <br />HRMS will also teach one workshop to staff as an in -kind contribution. We recommend the staff <br />workshop be conducted in the first month to maximize the value of the knowledge as staff serves <br />participants throughout the year. <br />WHY OFFER PUT A DOT. COMIN YOUR JOB SEARCI-e? <br />HR Management Services developed Put A Dot, corn in Your Job Sear°cho to help the Workforce <br />Development community maximize the employment resources of the Internet. An Internet savvy <br />job seeker can find her or his own resources in terms of job openings, resume posting and <br />submission, and interview advice. These workshops will assist the Center in exceeding its WIA <br />performance standards. The benefits to the Workforce Development System and the ,Santa Ana <br />W/O/R/K Center are clear; <br />* Reduced staff workload <br />* Faster job placements <br />* Better customer service <br />The course has been successfully taught at more than 20 government -funded agencies, and to <br />over 1,500 students throughout California. It has been taught on an ongoing basis at the Long <br />Beach Career Transition Center since April 2000, and 96% of staff and customers have rated the <br />class "Very Good" or "Excellent." It is also taught to WIA participants at Pasadena's Foothill <br />Employment and Training Center. The California Workforce Association sponsors PADC <br />workshops for its members. <br />Why has the course been so readily accepted in the California Workforce Development <br />community? The Internet has changed the way the world does business. And this includes the <br />way people find jobs and advance their careers. Few business sectors have experienced such a <br />
