Letter L3: Tammy Frias (3 Pages) Late Comment Letter
Hello Planning Dept. & Council Members,
Below is a list compiled from all the Ward 4 South Coast Metro Neighborhood leaders as to what we
would like to see as an added "Public Benefit" to the Related Bristol Project.
— Utility Transmission Lines/ All of them placed underground on the following streets.....
MacArthur Blvd. (from Main St. to Bristol) Sunflower Ave. (from Main St. to Bristol)
& S. Flower St. (from Sunflower Ave. to Segerstrom Ave.)
*By the way, the Costa Mesa side of Sunflower Ave. have already put theirs underground.
So only one side, which is the Santa Ana side, has to be done on Sunflower Ave.
** lust FYI......
When the deal with the Nexxus & Geneva Commons developers (Skyline) was done two decades
ago, the city was given money with the understanding that those funds were earmarked to place
the above listed utility lines all underground.
Instead, the city used all that money to fund other projects in downtown Santa Ana.
So as a result..... Every fiscal year, the city would place under -grounding those particular utility lines on
the proposed city budget presentation, butsadly yearafter year, it always got bumped.
—A proper full service grocery store that fits with this area/ (Such as we have now)
Either a Vons/ Pavilions, Ralph's/Fresh Fare, Albertson's, or Stater Bros.
(No Amazon Fresh, or Whole Foods) -> Stakeholders in the area only have that one Vons left to shop at
in South Coast Metro area.
Upgrade the median/island along MacArthur Blvd. & S. Bear St./ Currently they are just dirt with
pine trees. They would look nice covered with artificial grass, & up -lights on them.
— Upgrade the median/island on Segerstrom Ave. & S. Spruce St. by Republic homes/
Currently, it is just brick, would like some palm trees with up -lights as well.
Upgrade Republic Homes monument sign at their entry wall & put a down light above the letters.
— Upgrade by repairing, patch, paint & beautify the walls surrounding the South Coast Neighborhood
on W. MacArthur Blvd./S. Flower St. up to Bike trail, & then around the perimeter on
W. MacArthur Blvd. They are in dire need of repair, & in some places just plain falling down.
Leftturn traffic signal @ Flower St. & Segerstrom Ave. intersection/ This way drivers can safely make
a left turn during high traffic times of the day.
—Traffic light @ S. Parton St. & MacArthur Blvd./ Residents cannot safely pull out onto MacArthur Blvd.
because the traffic is so heavy. Increasing the amount of people going down MacArthur Blvd. is just
going to make it even worse.
L3.1
