Recyclable materials include paper, plastic, glass, aluminum, <br /> cardboard, and any other materials accepted by the City's rubbish hauler. <br /> The selected contractor shall be required to empty all workstation receptacles <br /> on a daily basis and return the receptacles to their initial location. The contents <br /> of the workstation receptacles shall be consolidated and deposited in the <br /> facilities' single-stream recvclina dumpster. Workstation recycling receptacles <br /> do not need plastic liners. <br /> VI. CONTAMINATION PROCEDURES <br /> If a custodial employee finds non-recyclable items in a work station recycling <br /> receptacle, the custodial employee shall remove the item from the recycling <br /> stream, place it in the trash or organics stream, and leave a'Recycling Reminder' <br /> note on the desk of the employee who placed an unacceptable item in the <br /> recycling receptacle. Upon award, the City will provide a sufficient amount of <br /> printed 'Recycling Reminder' notes and list of acceptable and non-acceptable <br /> items to the Contractor. Contractor shall be responsible for placing the notes <br /> when contamination is identified. The Contractor shall be responsible for <br /> assuring all janitorial closets are stocked with Recycling Reminder notes, <br /> training custodial staff on the contamination procedures, and notifying City staff <br /> of when there is a low inventory of'Recycling Reminder' notes. <br /> VII. COLLECTION PROTOCOLS <br /> Receptacles are to be cleaned as needed each time. Boxes, cans; paper, and <br /> other recyclable items marked 'trash' or 'recycling' shall be removed and <br /> recycled. Cardboard boxes and cartons are to be broken down flat prior to being <br /> placed in the recycling bins. All collected recyclables from such workstation <br /> receptacles shall be removed from the area and deposited in a designated <br /> single-stream recycling in such a manner so as to prevent the adjacent area from <br /> becoming littered by said trash. <br /> VIII. ORGANIC WASTE RECYCLING PROGRAM <br /> Further, if organic waste recycling service is available at a City facility, City <br /> employees will be required to dispose of organic food scrap items, such as food <br /> waste, food-soiled paper, and other organic materials collected by the City's <br /> rubbish hauler, at designated organics recycling receptacles located in <br /> breakrooms and areas where food waste is generated. All breakrooms at city <br /> facilities that have organics recycling service will contain organics recycling <br /> receptacles for use by City employees. <br /> The selected contractor shall be required to empty all organic waste recycling <br /> receptacles on a daily basis and return the receptacles to their initial location. <br /> The contents of the organic waste recycling receptacles shall be consolidated <br /> and deposited in the facilities' organics recvclina dumpster or cart. Organic <br /> waste recycling receptacles must have plastic liners. Organic waste materials <br /> contained in plastic liners are acceptable in the City facility organics recycling <br /> program and can be placed in the organic waste recycling dumpsters and/or carts <br /> serviced by the City's rubbish hauler. <br /> IX. TRASH COLLECTION PROTOCOLS <br /> City employees shall be required to dispose of non-recyclable and non-organic <br /> waste items, such as Mylar chip bags, broken glass, rubber gloves, etc. at <br /> City of Santa Ana RFP 24-076 Page 28 of 73 <br />
