Council <br /> (Safety Coordinator) <br /> <br /> Communication was read from C.J.Poppa, 2035 Meriday Lane, protesting <br /> the amendment application submitted by Allison Honer Company for <br /> College Manor, Inc., reference the proposed rezoning of property <br /> located west of Santa Aha Junior College and adjacent to the inter- <br /> section of North English Street and Meriday Lane from R-1 to R-3 for <br /> the construction of apartment type rental buildings, and the right of <br /> Councilman Dahl to serve as a representative of 0ollege Manor, Incor- <br /> porated. On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Larsen and <br /> carried, the communication was received and filed. Councilman Dahl <br /> stated that he was a member of the Board of Directors of College Manor <br /> Inc., in the beginning only as a "Dummy Director" and his interes~ was <br /> only that of an Attorney to a client; that he has no financial interest <br /> in this property and is no longer a member of the Board of Directors <br /> <br /> as he resigned at the first meetingof the Board. <br /> # <br /> <br /> Communication was read from Mrs. B.D. Simmons, 1112 West Sixth Street, <br /> protesting dogs running at large and on motion of Councilman McBride, <br /> seconded by Larsen and carried, the communication was referred to the <br /> City Manager to instruct the Animal Control Officer to contact <br /> <br /> Mrs. Simmons. <br /> <br /> 0n motion of Counci]m=n Jerome, seconded by Larsqn and carried, the <br /> claim of Alice R. Wlndlate, in the sum of approximately $5.00, for <br /> damages sustained to her automobile on J~ly 15th, 1953, in the Alpha <br /> Beta Parking Lot on North Sycamore Street, was referred to ~he City <br /> <br /> Attorney and Insurance Carrier. <br /> # <br /> On motion of Councilman Dkhl, seconded by Larsen and carried, the <br /> petition signed by William T. and Louise M. Reetz, Floyd S. and <br /> Virginia E. Splawn, to abandoh that Vance Street right-of-way as it <br /> exists east of Santiago Avenue, was referred to the Plannin~ <br /> <br /> Commission for recommendation. <br /> # <br /> On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the <br /> report of the Police Department for the month of July, 1953, was <br /> received and filed. <br /> <br /> On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Larsen and carried, the <br /> notification of the State Board of Equalization of alcoholic beverage <br /> application made by Joe H. Perez,'320 East Fourth Street, was received <br /> <br /> and filed.' <br /> # <br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Larsen and carried, the <br />applications of William S. Rutherford, Robert L. Kellerman, Roy J. Davi <br />Charles P. Grimes ahd Richard L. Albrecht to d/'ive taxicabs, were <br />received and permits granted. <br /> <br />On recommendation of the committee and on motion of Councilman Dahl, <br />seconded by Larsen and carried, the request of the Santa Aha P.T.A. <br />Council, that a member of the Police Department be mssigned, <br />on a part time or full time basis, to the position as a safety <br />coordinator for the schools, was denied and the City Manager inst~uotedil <br />to forward a communication to the Santa Ana P.T.A. advising of the <br /> <br />reasons for the denial of the request. <br /> <br /> <br />
