Council Chamber <br />Santa Ana City Hall <br />November 16, 1953. <br /> <br />7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />City Council met in regular session. <br />Meeting called to order by the Mayor. <br /> <br />Present: Councilmen William Jerome, J.LoMcBride, Thomas F. Larsen, <br /> Milford W. Dahl, Courtney R. Chandler. <br />Absent: Councilmen None <br /> <br />Each member of the City Council having received copies of the <br />Minutes of October 19th and November 2nd, 195S, reading of the <br />Minutes was dispensed with and approved on motion of Councilman <br />Jerome, seconded by McBride and carried. <br /> # <br /> <br />In Re This being the date set for hearing of protests on the abandonment <br /> <br />Resol. No. 53-158 <br />Abandonment and <br />~closing of portion <br />of Hickory Street <br />(hearing date) <br /> <br />and closing of a portion of Hickory Street south of Myrtle Street and <br />north of Bishop Street, Reverend Walter McCarroll, 406 East Walnut <br />Street, stated that in the interest of the Reformed Presbyterian <br /> <br />Church and on behalf of the residents in the area, the street should <br /> <br />not be closed. Frank Corpin, 601 East Myrtle Street, gave his ideas <br /> <br />for wanting the street kept open and questioned the reasons for not <br /> <br />extending Hickory Strect. On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by <br /> <br />Larsen and carried, the petition signed by one hundred and forty-two <br /> <br />residents in the area urging that the street be kept open, was <br /> <br />received and filed. The Council having unanimously waived the read- <br /> <br />lng of the Resolution and on motion of Councilman McBride, seconded <br /> <br />by Jerome and carried, the following Resolution entitled: <br /> <br />"Resolution No. 53-158 Ordering the Vacation, <br />Abandonment and Closing of a portion of Hickory <br />Street south of Myrtle Street and n~rth of Bishop <br />Street" <br /> <br />was considered and passed by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes, Councilmen <br /> <br />Noes, Councilmen <br />Absent, Councilmen <br /> <br />William Jerome, J.L.McBride, <br />Thomas F. Larsen, Milford W. Dahl, <br />Courtney R. Chandler. <br />None <br />None <br /> <br /> <br />
