CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />SPECIFICATIONS <br />PROJECT NO.: 25-6030 <br />TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION AT SEGERSTROM AVENUE AND ROSEWOOD <br />AVENUE <br />8. The mounting hardware for all street name signs shall be Grimco 2SQF12 or <br />BA8Al2 or City approved equivalent. <br />9. All street names signs shall be installed with bolts through the sign into the <br />mounting hardware. Compression type of installations will not be accepted. <br />Reflective sheeting will be applied to the sign panel utilizing the method approved by <br />the manufacturer of the sheeting and shall produce a durable bond equal to or greater <br />than the strength of the reflective sheeting. No air pockets or bubbles shall exist <br />between the sheeting and the aluminum backing. All sign panels furnished by the <br />Contractor shall be new with no scratches or tears in the reflective sheeting. <br />No splice will be allowed in the sign panel reflective sheeting other than that which <br />occurs in the manufactured roll of reflective sheeting on sign panels with a minor <br />dimension of 48" or less. On all rectangular sign panels, the splice will be horizontal. <br />No finished sign panel shall have more than one (1) splice and no splice will fall within <br />2" of the sign panel edge. When splices do occur, the adjoining reflective sheets shall <br />be color matched under both incident and reflective light. <br />Prior to sign installation the contractor will provide a Certificate of Compliance for the <br />signs. <br />Section 56-4.0213, Metal Posts, shall be deleted and replaced with the following <br />paragraph: <br />New signs shall be installed per City of Santa Ana Standard Plan No. 1504 using <br />square tubing signpost (such as Unistrut Telspafrm, U1tiMate or Agency -approved <br />equal), anchors and anchor sleeves. Anchors and sleeves shall be embedded with <br />no more than four holes exposed and no less than two holes exposed. The signpost, <br />anchor and anchor sleeve shall be fully perforated galvanized square 12 gauge steel <br />tubing. The signpost shall be 2 inch square, the signpost anchor shall be 2.25 inch <br />square (all dimensions are nominal). <br />Section 56-4.02C, "Wood Posts," of the Caltrans Standard Specifications shall be <br />deleted. <br />Section 56-4.02D, "Laminated Wood Box Posts," of the Caltrans Standard <br />Specifications shall be deleted. <br />The third paragraph of Section 56-4.02E, "Sign Panel Fastening Hardware," of the <br />Caltrans Standard Specifications shall be amended to read as follows: <br />All new signs shall be installed with all new mounting hardware. All new straps, <br />saddle brackets, nuts, bolts, and washers shall be stainless steel and tamper -proof. <br />Heavy duty banding straps of 0.030 shall be used. Each sign panel shall have a <br />minimum of two rivets installed per sign. However, signs greater than 45 inches in <br />height shall have three rivets per sign installed in the top, middle and bottom of the <br />47 <br />
